TRAGIC update! I spent almost a year (thankfully not longer!) trying to replace my 4,000 lbs. F-150 XL ($40K incl taxes) that I could NOT afford. I don’t know how - or if - we’re going to financially recover from what it took for us to get this Maverick.

And it’s the wrong order.

I’m gonna be sick. I cannot make any more payments on this curse of a vehicle I have; I can’t take this messed up Maverick; and I don’t know how I’m going to keep my job. I just can’t fit my tools in my spouse’s Prius.

///////////////////
Detailed version, for the curious:
How did this happen? I need the base XL package with a full-sized spare (+$115) and the 4-pin trailer harness (+$100). That’s a $22K truck. Why did I order a $32K Lariat with the Luxury Package?

Adaptive Cruise Control. If I’m gonna have a payment every month and if I’m forced to drive a 5,000 lbs monstrosity (I’m a biker, we don’t enjoy power steering, windshields, or massive vehicles), then at least can it be nice? Can it have ONE feature that removes me from the road in a GOOD way? I was ready to deal with having to clean leather instead of vinyl. I could put up with the heavier wheels. I was even ready to take the 400-grit sandpaper off my phone case so I could actually use the wireless Qi charger and not scuff it up. At 2.99% (the “good old days” of early 2022 interest rates) I could *just* afford making this thing all delicate and non-job site safe.

After all, I was gonna keep this less expensive, 40mpg work truck for 20 years! I told my wife we’re gonna find some cheap land and build a dream house! I hit 24 months soon and can get my contractor’s license, so we were gonna sell this house and move back home to the Midwest.

Well, my Maverick finally arrives, and I sit down behind the wheel, and she’s got Ford’s Co-pilot 360 or whatever. Except the name kind of matters because there’s a co-pilot 360 and a co-pilot 360 Assist Package. There’s two of them.

I definitely had ordered the wrong one this whole time.

$32K for a $22K truck because I wanted one, single feature. And she showed up without it. With interest rates having been raised SIX times since I tried to order a ‘22, I just couldn’t “donate” the extra MSRP to Ford for a feature it didn’t have. I had to leave her at the dealership. And then go home and cry.

It’s a bummer but you probably should still take it
It’s much better to drive than an F150

Seems strange. Dealer gets dinged if they have too many orders that don't go to person who ordered. Why would they add a second person not taking order for no benefit? Paying extra?
Id like a dealer to chime in here to see if Ford is actually doing a damn thing to ding a dealer if they change the buyer, I suspect its all talk.

He said it was identical to his so maybe he ordered without it and so the identical order also did not have it?

Sorry! My confusion is a little confusing:
Vehicle 1 -
I ordered a Lariat with the Ford Co-Pilot360 (FCP) package because I wanted Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). This was a mistake! ACC is included in a separate package named Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist Package (FCP AP).

My order still has not arrived at the dealership, it’s scheduled for first week of Feb, and it won’t have the one feature I wanted because I ordered the wrong thing.

Vehicle 2 -
is identical to Vehicle 1 and is already at the dealership. It also has FCP, which is *how* I discovered that I never ordered a Maverick with ACC to begin with. The dealer and I both checked over and over, desperate to read that ACC came with FCP because I definitely ordered FCP. Every time we re-read it, we got the same information. Someone made a whoopsy.

That someone was me.

Congratulations for walking away from something you could not afford. Good choice.

You need to sell that F-150 ASAP, and get out from under those payments. Buy a used beater with the proceeds, and smile every time you get in it, because you are not making payments.

Thanks! The bank gave me a check for up to $37K so I technically had the choice to take her home if I wanted, but no WAY could I get into yet another loan I couldn’t afford!

I’m gonna do what you said and get something as close to Fred Flinstone’s car as I can get XD

When I said I was also going to abandon MY order, the dealer didn’t seem like it was a problem in the slightest. It was like no one told them they would get dinged for it in any way. In fact, the $32,710 Maverick I turned down last night is listed on their site right now for $38,710. I have the VIN for my order, I suspect when it arrives it’ll be listed for about the same lmao

Yep, seen it over and over again. Ford won't do anything until they are selling and servicing vehicles directly, until then they will let dealers do what they want as long as vehicles get sold. Makes me really appreciate the honest dealers like Granger, where I got mine drama free.

So, if this had not happened, were you going to accept the order with item you wanted when it came in? How did this change your original order so that you decided to decline it??? I guess the dealer wasn't heartbroken that you ended up with neither.

You must have really wanted ACC to spend an extra 10K to get it. Maybe that was your original "whoopsy"????

So one night in about three weeks, "Someone Will Be Taking Your Maverick Home Tonight!!!"?????

The 2022 Lariat with CP360 DID include ACC, but for 2023 they removed ACC from CP360 and made it part of a second package called CP360 Assist, which by the way, requires you to have CP360 also. Very confusing to have two packages with almost the same name and the second package is an add-on to the first. So, what you needed to order was Lariat w/ Lux package, CP360 AND CP360 Assist.
