I had a Ford dealer put in the ”blend” when I didn’t specify full synthetic. I assumed (Makes ass-u-me d.)they would know what oil to use. I think when you order “The Works” service at the dealer the package includes a blend. That’s one way to get synthetic blend in your hybrid Maverick

I would not. I think I told my service writer that I wanted full synthetic about three times at my first service.

Someone on FB had posted that their dealer gave them Synthetic Blend and I posted the page in the manual that states FULL Synthetic is to be used for the Hybrid.

As usual, someone wanted to argue that they were smarter and that they knew Ford had issued a bulletin telling people synthetic blend was now authorized and the manual was outdated.

But, of course, it was facebook so the person declined to post verification of this new bulletin when I asked. I'd like to verify the truth. I know we have a few folks here like @KevCuRaoi who KNOW the facts.
I do vaguely remember seeing some message from Ford that for some Ford vehicles that take 0W20 that synthetic blend was ok.... but I can't recall the details (which vehicles, which model years, etc.) ... or locate reference to the message! So there may be some kernel of truth to what that person remembered, but since it is nothing I can find easily, I am leery.

Ford switched to only offering 0w20 as full synthetic in late 2019.

As you mentioned, this is what is listen in owners manual for hybrid Maverick:
Motorcraft® SAE 0W-20 Full Synthetic Motor Oil(U.S.) WSS-M2C962-A1

I would not deviate from what the owners manual says. Especially the WSS-M2C962-A1 specification if using non-Motorcraft oil.

If there is a synthetic blend that fulfills WSS-M2C962-A1 (and I did a quick search and didn't find one), then it is probably ok. But I still wouldn't risk it myself. I'd stick with full-synthetic.

The only related reference I can find is in a bulletin from Dec 2021. It is about full synthetic oils and Ford Protect maintenance plans. Vehicles that require full synthetic need the full synthetic plans. Prior to late 2019, Ford did make synthetic blend 0W20. Hybrids could take that. The note mentions that 5W20 synthetic blend was an acceptable replacement for 0W20 synthetic blend (after Ford had discontinued 0w20 synthetic blend). That info is included in workshop manual for those vehicles.
Mavericks were produced after Ford switched to only offering full synthetic 0W20 (and there is nothing in workshop manual saying 5W20 synthetic blend as an acceptable option for Maverick), so I don't see this bulletin as being applicable to hybrid Maverick. This bulletin may be the one that I recalled relating to synthetic blend being ok for some hybrids.

... Is this BS or fact?
BS

The Hybrid needs 0W-20 due to frequent stop/start of the ICE and the fact it sometimes never fully warms up, unlike a conventional ICE vehicle.

I take my truck to a local trusted mechanic and supply my own Mobil 1 full synthetic oil & Motorcraft filter. They charge $29.95 labor, which I gladly pay. I'm too fn old to do my own oil changes any more. I scan & upload all the receipts to my account at ford.com for warranty purposed (I do not use the app).
