I agree with the profit margin comment but I think there's probably just an inability for US manufacturers to ramp up production.
If you look around the automotive landscape Tesla, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia.. all are not having an issue pumping out vehicles including EVs a Hybrids.
My local Hyundai dealers are absolutely loaded with Santa Cruz's sitting on the lots yet my EB Maverick has yet to be scheduled.....

I just passed by at a local ford dealership and at their car lot there were 30 white color ford maverick xlt hybrids on stand by. The dealer told me it belongs to O’Reilly Autoparts.
That’s one of the reasons why there are shortage or constraints what so ever. It’s because of those companies that ordered a big amount of mavericks. They’re orders are getting more priority than us.

Ford has one battery plant in Georgia coming online in Georgia now. Two more in Kentucky/Tennessee next year.
For sure. They're definitely ramping up. However, they're still playing catch up. That's my main point. Tesla's current battery facilities can manufacture close to 2 million batteries a year. Ford is a long way away from that type of production.

Aren’t those for the Lightning batteries?
I'm sure they are not for a single model of battery. Ford has MANY vehicles that need them now. They want to build all in house.

Tesla thinks they are going to sell 20 million cars a year by 2020. LOL. That's more than was ever sold in the US in a calendar year. Tesla might hit 3 million vehicles, then when the other manufacturers come on with full capacity, Tesla's growth will be stunted.

If I sell battery parts, I'm going to be more inclined to sell to a larger purchaser rather than a smaller one. Tesla going all in on EV may be exactly why they get all the batteries during the lithium shortage.

But for the first two years of the Maverick, I think it simply comes down to Ford's expectations. No other model hybrid has been wildly successful... until now. So, even going 35% with the Maverick was ambitious. By the time they realized it, it was too late to adjust the supply trains.

I personally think the third shift in July is because Ford has been working to do just that.

Profit margin of no sale is $0. Ford would build every hybrid ordered if they could.
Tesla uses cylindrical cells rather than pouch style. Also, the profit margin of no sale may be $0, but the profit on a loss leader can be negative... Ford may not have much incentive to sell a bunch of Mavericks until they get costs down. Not saying this is the case with the Maverick or Ford, but it could be.

Well they did raise the price of a Hybrid Maverick by $2,200 in the last year, so they certainly shouldn't be in the red on them.

OK - so Ill play devils advocate - Why SHOULDNT companies order Mavericks ?

- How do you know how long O'Reillys has been waiting ? Their orders are Fleet orders and are separate from consumer orders. While it is true Ford can only produce so many trucks per year ( and chooses to only make 35% hybrid ) Im not blaming Terminix, AutoZone, ADT - any company that sees the value of the truck ordering - HOWEVER I would say It should be first come first served rather than the non-sensical way Ford schedules builds and mumbles something about "allocations"

I fully expect my hybrid lariat to not be built in 2023. I think ford planned this all along. That's why they said in the M23 roll out message that no 23's would be rolled over to 24. If you are one of the thousands of people who ordered a hybrid in Sept. just plan on a 2 year wait. I think the JUly, 3rd shift, is for M24.
But then what do I really know about ford.
Seems likely as they are bringing them on in July and then some time in August or September they will take the 24 orders.

The other possible reason Maverick production is constrained is that Ford is just really awful at building things. 🤔

No, both the Escape and the Maverick eCVT are built by Ford. Previously the 2 motors that go into the eCVT were built by a outside supplier. The Maverick was the first eCVT to use Ford build electric motors.
Based on everything I have read, I think the hybrid constraint is due to the Ford electric motor factory having technical difficulties ramping up. I feel that "soon" production will improve and hybrid motors will be everywhere.

Then Ford can resolve the trailer hitch constraint, maybe.
