How well do taped on exterior accessories hold up, especially with car washes?

I'm considering getting the hood protector, window deflectors, and possibly the cab spoiler. When I do wash my vehicles I usually just opt for the drive through washes, how well does this stuff hold up?

I have a 03 Tundra my father in law bought new with the window deflectors, one got cracked by hail and it took me a hour to break all 4 off and get all the tape off. Put new ones one and you can never tell

I work in an auto body shop, it takes a lot of work to get those pieces off, they last through just about everything with the truck, like Ricstar said.

that's the way they have been put on for many years and all have been fine... if you see any older vehicles with any of the items you're interested in then you can judge for yourself.

As long as it isn't Chinese knockoff 'MMM' tape. I actually received a cheapie accessory with tape backing marked that way once. I guess the translator to the trade fraud factory wasn't explicit enough on that one.

My experience is a broken hood deflector from an automatic car wash. That was actually due to the air blower at the end causing 120mph air to hit the deflector on the back side.
My daughter also worked at an automatic car wash in high school and informed me that the car wash is NOT responsible for anything like that that breaks off during the wash, and it happened quite often. Go thru them at your own risk if you're taping on accessories.

I go to the self service car wash with a pile of quarters, a buck full of cloths and a step stool. It takes a little longer but I know what is going on with my truck through the process. The automatic ones have been a problem for me with past vehicles.

the side window deflectors if installed correctly and attached to the rubber window trim will come off quite easily, i opted for the EGR in channel ones but anything installed on metal especially with an adhesion promoter will be a b to get off...

Im really sad to have discovered the other day that the windows visors from ford only lasted a year . The 3m tape its starting to peal.

But .... how is the paint looking underneath ... that is my concern with the taped on accessories.
I'm not worried about them coming off... but are they taking paint with them??
