Unfortunately, I tried Home Depot, ACE and all my local locksmiths and none could cut my two spare keys. I did find an out of town locksmith that said they could cut it. I took it to them today to cut one of the keys. The cutting worked, but the programming did not. The key opens the doors and tailgate and turns the ignition, but I continually get the Programming Failed and No Key errors.

FYI, I bought the Plastic Headed Keys - 16.95 for 2 - https://amzn.to/3HNZe5h - currently $14.95 and it now has an AmazonConfirmedFit warning that it does not fit my 2023 Maverick.

Since others have had success with this key, it may just be a bad chip in that one key. However, once bitten, twice shy. So, I'm not willing to gamble another $60 to get the second one cut. I guess it's time to go to the dealership :-(

There has been many questions on the keys for our beloved trucks and as a locksmith I can say if you lose all your keys you will more than likely have to tow it back to the dealer until our software is updated. HOWEVER I have confirmed on board programming works if you have the original two keys ( two programmed keys ) - you can program them yourself - that has been mentioned here before. Do this NOW !!! before you loose one of the two keys LOL.

On the XL or XLT trucks you can either add a flip remote or just a standard key ( possibly you might want to add two cheaper keys as a backup ) On the Lariat only the fob will work however the emergency key is not required. I thought I would put links to which keys to purchase and you can take them to a local locksmith just to have cut - as long as you maintain two extra you are in good shape adding in the future.

To program you insert the existing first key, turn on ignition, count to three, take out put in existing second key turn on ignition - count to three - take new third key - turn on ignition - leave on - you should hear a chirp and a message key was successful.

To program - open center console. Pull up felt cover - place first existing fob in depression - push start button ( without foot on brake ) ignition comes on- count to 5 - remove fob - push ignition off - put second existing fob in depression - push ignition on - count to five - remove fob - push ignition off. take new fob - put in depression push AND HOLD start button down - you should hear chirp and message - key programming successful.


All in all pretty simple procedures and a few dollars and effort now can save you hundreds later !

I lost one of my keys to my 2024 Lariat. If I understand correctly I will have to have this reprogrammed, because I won't be able to do this self programming trick, right?

Can anyone share what software would be required to do this, so I can ask a locksmith of they have the correct version of the software?

Ask the locksmith if they can program it for a 2022-2024 maverick and mention you only have one OEM key. I had to pay a $75 software fee for them to get the right software for it along with all the other charges.

I purchased this key off of Amazon (X AUTOHAUX 315MHz N5F-A08TAA Replacement Smart Proximity Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob for Ford F150 F250 F350 2015-2019 for F450 F550 2018-2019 for Explorer 3Buttons with Door Keys 49 Chip https://a.co/d/8pULIYm) but i couldn’t find someone who was able to laser cut they key for a decent price. So I took apart one of my factory keys using a flathead blade and very small Allen wrench (it’s actually a hex bit but didn’t have one smaller enough) and then did the programming sequence but after I took out the second key I put the blade from it into the Amazon key and got it to program. It took about 10 tries or so. So if I’ll have it programmed and if I ever need it in the future then I’ll get it cut. Total cost was like $17

Do your door lock/unlock buttons work on your new remote? I purchased a similar one on Amazon from the 1st post and it programmed and starts the truck but the door buttons do not work.

All works fine with no issue unlocking doors

Amazon for $18. The white parts are not was white as OEM but works after getting a locksmith to hook up laptop and software to program the remote since my mower ate one of my keys/remote and only had one left. This is on a base 2024 Maverick XL with no remote start.

I'm assuming this isn't a big deal, but I wanted to confirm that you have in fact used this key on a '24 Maverick XL base with no remote start. I have the exact same truck, and I'd like to get a 3rd key programmed just as a backup in case I lose one.

I had a 23 and sold it after joining this site and bought a 24 XL with only spray in bed liner and trailer hitch. If you already have the two OEM remotes, you probably and program it yourself without locksmith high prices. I only had one OEM which required the locksmith to program. The color is not white on the remote from amazon, more of a beige.

If anyone is looking for the remote key for cheap, it's available on Aliexpress for $14 CDN with free shipping. That's around $10 US. The key looks exactly like the one from Amazon and Ebay and it's an exact match to my 2024 key.
