I wouldn't bother. Just walk away from it, and buy what you want.

I know I can make something on it.... someone would be willing to pay at minimum a $1000 over what it cost me I'm sure. I'm willing to bet even the dealer would give me that much off (most likely more) another purchase if I told them I was going to sell it then buy from them rather than let them just have it.

All valid things to consider. I can get a refund on the Sales tax when I purchase the Escape and pay the tax on it. Financing for a buyer on a used vehicle is something they will have to consider. I know I should be able to get more for it than I paid, just don't know what to expect. Based on other threads, Carvana may be my way to go. Will call Carvana once I get it. Thanks
Don't give it back to the dealer they will ADM +10K-15K! Selling to a wholesaler like Carvana is not good either because you give them your equity for free. They are just going to flip it for few thousand more. Don't let people discourage you or make you feel guilty you deserve to make money after waiting so long. Sell PP on Autotrader and CraigsList its easy, people do that all the time.

Oh and if a wholesaler says they will get you a check in 5 days just don't. Carvana is losing millions. Big companies go BK all the time - they will have your truck and all you have is an IOU.

Do the transaction with someone during business hours, walk into the bank together, show the check to the mgr (they can spot fakes) and deposit. Then you both drive to the local Auto Club where they will show you where to sign the title and make sure registration is changed on the spot.

And not doing any of this just because you may have to pay tax is like saying you will not buy a company's stock because you may have to pay tax on the sale one day.

I actually recommend escrow services rather than a bank check. Your bank can most likely also facilitate a wire transfer for you.

Thanks guys. Wire transfer is most likely the way I'd go. NO "cashiers checks", they can be fake. I will pay MO. sales tax and apply for title (can't jump title), Dept of Rev says title usually back in my name in a week. After I sell I will then buy a new Escape. In MO. if you pay sales tax on a vehicle, whenever you sell it if you buy another vehicle for more, pay the sales tax on that one with in 180 days you can get a refund of all the tax paid on the first, so sales tax issue is mute. I'm thinking I might get $5K or more over what I paid. I'd be very happy with the Mav just that if I can work out buying an Escape for around $3k more out of my pocket why not?

Carvana will apraise your truck if you have the window sticker right now,it is so easy they will upload your info and pay off your loan and pick it up in two days you just sign the papper work when they pick it up and hand them both set of keys they load it up right there at your house and hand you a check for the difference it is very easy to do i just sold them a hot pepper red lariat that i took deleiver off good luck

Thanks for the Carvana info, how much over sticker did you get and how many miles were on the truck at time of them taking it?

If your dealer would let someone else purchase without markup I'll take it and pay you a "finders" fee.

But with the way Gas is going. You will be able to sell in for a fortune when it arrives in a couple weeks. Be patient and I'd use carvana from personal experience. SO EASY! I would think $5-7k profit easy since you are just rolling the sales tax into a different vehicle and not a factor.

Thanks for the reply and information. If I could get 7K over what I buy it for it's gone for sure!

Have you had a good relationship with your dealer? Will you be ordering/buying the Escape from the same dealer? Offer to have them market and sell the vehicle and split the amount over MSRP they get with you. That is my plan if I test drive my ordered Maverick and decide to pass on it. If they say no, I will just pay cash for it and go sell it myself. Given the inventory available where I live, I would be shocked if they don't jump at the chance to be able to sell a Maverick off of the lot. Then you pay no sales tax before it gets sold and it isn't considered a used vehicle by definition. If the dealership balks at paying you the money via check, just have them apply it to the Escape deal.

Just a thought. My truck is still 6 weeks from production.

I have a great relationship and have discussed what you suggest but they will not sell a new one over window sticker so advised me to sell myself. They don't have a hybrid (don't want a plug in) on the lot that I want. In MO, if you sell a car and if within 180 days you buy another you can subtract the value of the one sold from the one you buy and pay tax only on the difference. They said to order a Hybrid Escape most likely will not arrive in 180 days. Really doubt I'll get what I want/need for the Mav so I'll be happy with it for sure.

I would check with vroom as they offered me the most for my car over carvana, and dealer that uses kbb. Good luck.

Thanks, after having it a few days I've decided to keep it. Much better than expected!
