I can understand some people's desire to order a '23 after already receiving their '22 Maverick; trims/options/packages changed and you really wanted that Tremor or blacked out trim and would have ordered that if it were available in the beginning.
I can also understand ordering multiples if it's for your business or you have multiple people in your family wanting one.
That said, I think some should be thankful that after waiting so long they've gotten their order and should be content. To place multiple orders to see which ones come in and you can later sell off at a profit if your other orders come through seems quite greedy. Some people need new vehicles and had waited for a '22 which got cancelled and are still willing to take a chance for '23 because a Maverick fits their needs. They're taking away someone else's opportunity to have something so they can make a quick buck -- I personally question the morality of it. Sure, you can argue that if it didn't someone else would, but does that really justify it? I also find it rather disgusting that dealerships are willing to bilk a couple extra thousand out of their customers because someone else didn't take their order.
It's no different than buying and reselling any product. It's like a business decision, and one that is not without risk.

Also, no one "needs" a new car. And if you do "need" a newer/different car, there are plenty of non-Maverick options.

I am picking up my 22 XLT Hybrid on 10/24/22. Order date was 6/24/21. It is pretty loaded up and the only thing I ever removed was the tonneau which I am picking up next weekend from another MTC member who needed a hard cover so I am buying his soft cover.
Since it took so long to get my XLT I ordered a 23 Lariat Lux with CP360 for my wife. If it takes another 16 months to get the 23 then her current car will have almost 200k miles and she will be ready. If she tries my 22 and doesn't like it then I will pass on it or buy it and resell if the market is still upside down like it is now.

While that all may be true, it's one's opinion and subjective to one's perspective -- we all see the same picture through our own eyes.
As for alternate choices, there's not a lot of competition in the arena the Maverick holds, right now you have but one real option, the Hyundai Santa Cruz which is equally difficult to acquire. I'd include the Ridgeline, but it's still pricier than the Sante Cruz so I don't consider it a real option most would consider.
I also don't look at ordering multiples of a new vehicle which you only plan to keep one of as a business decision, it's more of a gamble in which you may hope to make a profit. We're not talking collectible classics here.
And while not everyone "needs" a Maverick, there are some which due to medical conditions have difficulty climbing in and out of a larger truck to which the Maverick may still allow them to do the work/tasks they have without the difficulty they have with their current vehicles.
But that's the great thing about our country, you have the right to do it if you so choose. It doesn't mean that others will completely agree with the reasons you do it, but it's a logical decision some make to wager their bets.

Your pizza comparison doesn't work. What if you bought all 5 pizzas and sold 4 for more than you paid? That would be more accurate.

The limit on how many Mavericks you can buy is how many you can afford. Ford has zero incentive to limit this.
thats not what im saying at all though. the whole point was people ordering 5 trucks and then only buying the first one that shows up. if you wanna order 5 and buy 5 for the purpose of reselling its still scummy. just a different kind of scum.

Well, these are new vehicles - not charity. Not as though anyone is taking any sort of basic need like food or water from someone.

Yes I agree TJ, the dealer markups on canceled orders are disgusting but at least those trucks are new. I thought LM was not like the others until I saw this video where they are trying to get $40k for a used XL. This is even more disgusting IMO. I asked Tim B to explain this and he has not.

I ordered two, sort of. My XLT was converted. I'm thinking I'd like a Lariat better so I ordered one of those in September when I thought I'd get my XLT in November. If I can get a halfway decent price for the XLT (break even?) I'll take Lariat. Been a
long weird couple of years.

I am technically having 3 orders. I had two 22 orders, one was scheduled, one didnt. I rolled over my unscheduled one to a 23. Then when the allocations came out that dealer told me I should put in an order somewhere else because it probably wouldn't be built so I did. Now my scheduled one was canceled so I'm waiting for Ford to convert that to a 23 as well.

on the maverick subreddit ive already seen a ton of people telling other to put in multiple orders and just buy the one that shows up first. this is the scummiest thing about this whole new car experience. i mean if i called 5 pizza places and ordered a pizza but only paid for the first one that got to my house i would still be liable for the other 4 pizzas and at the very least would be blacklisted from those restaurants. ford really should of limited orders to 1 per customer untill they could meet demand or put people who back out of multiple orders on a back of the line list. the only people who win when people do this is the dealers who can can sell all the rest of your orders for wayyyy over msrp.
Ya, can see people objecting to this. While going to UMass worked at a pizza place. A fact, the uppity Amherst College students would order from multiple pizza joints to see who delivered first. Of course we did, but it did burn me a bit especially since there was no tip. Oh we are college kids.WTF!

In Tim's his defense, it may not be his decision as to what is charged on these used vehicles. Isn't he internet manager, this means he's not the actual sales manager who might be the one setting those prices.

Zero. My 2022 is to be built next week. Are they cheaper by the dozen?

Oddly, I sort of like the interior on the Lariat, though most people I've talked with don't seem to. I don't care for the wheels though, so I didn't really consider it. I'm also trying to keep my payments at the same level as they are on my used Ram, so opting for the XTL trim seemed like the best trade off to me. I also really do like the interior on this trim too.
