Anyone know anything about the 4G Hotspot Delete option that's now showing up in the configurator? I get that it removes the 4G hotspot, but how's it going to impact purchases? Will the hotspot end up being a constrained item?

Deleting it takes some small amount off the price, like $20 or $40, I forget which. If it is offered on the 2023 I’ll take the delete option because I don’t need a hotspot. Everyone in my family has a phone with an unlimited plan.

And if it constrains anything then hotspot be gone!

I'd imagine deleting the hotspot means also losing app connectivity which controls things like remote engine on/lock-unlock.

I don't recall where it is I read it, it might have been on the Ford dealer site, but it stated that is does not affect the Ford Pass apps which means remote features associated with it should work just fine.

Not so sure if that is true. I understand ford pass will still work. Just don't understand how it's done. Don't understand how this can be constrained. You can walk into any cell phone store and get a hot spot. But then again something as simple as mud flaps are constrained.

I thought I read somewhere that the hotspot delete was going to be required for all 2023 production on the Maverick. Makes no difference to me, I wouldn't pay for a hotspot when there's plenty of phones in my house that can handle the task...

For those questioning the hotspot and Ford Pass app working, the FordPass only requires the cellular connection, for the hotspot, you would also need a chip to connect to WiFi. Ford likely uses different modules for this, I believe FordPass is available in more vehicles than hotspot connectivity.

the "hotspot" is different from the onboard modem for the App. The hotspot cell service can be purchased from ATT for about 20.00 a month. The fordpass app will work through the onboard modem.

Most things which were options to delete have become requirements to delete for the remainder of 22 MY scheduling (for all Fords, not just Mavericks). I assume most of the options that are deletable now, will not be offered in 23, because the chips shortages will still be a constraint. Unless they know that they will have sufficient chips by the time 23 MY production starts?

Thanks. That explains it makes sense.

I have it, but wouldn't miss it if I didn't have it. Would like to get a Verizon hot spot to add to my plan instead of having a separate ATT bill just for the car. If they ever figure that out I may use it, if not then it will stay unused

I think the hotspot will end up being deleted or constrained on ALL Ford models in 2023.

It is things like the deletion of the hotspot modem and the temperate readout on the climate control dial that is making me appreciate my Maverick even more. It has features that the remainder of MY22 and MY23 Mavs won't have.

Those are also missing from Bronco builds too! I wish we could just buy them later and add them back.
