The the 23P18 CSP I skipped also has been reported to cause poor fuel economy and other issues according to this forum and others which is why I skipped it.
And others reported improved fuel economy. So take anecdotes for what they're worth. Although indisputably if it had been done in the Jan-March timeframe you likely would have been hit with the limp mode issue.

Possibly, but either way it is under warranty including extended warranty, so Ford will need to deal with it.

@jerrisn what DTC code or codes are present when you scan it with forscan or an obd2 scanner? If you're taking it to the dealer I would not clear the codes but you can definitely check them to see what they are.
I just read them and posted above.

It's better described as the ICE + Computers curse. If you drive a modern ICE engine, it has been computerized to point at which it can scare you, but not necessarily to the point at which it can always clearly tell you (or the mechanic) what is actually broken and how to fix it. Sometimes it can, but sometimes it's just saying "something's not right". Which as described above could be a broken part or a broken sensor or broken code.

We're rapidly entering the age of BEVs, and the non-Luddites among us will soon have to get used to a whole different set of warnings for batteries and battery management systems.

While driving my 2023 XLT hybrid on a road trip, I noticed a message from the FordPass app on my phone indicating a check engine alert. I checked the dashboard, and sure enough, the check engine light was on. I had just passed 20,000 miles earlier today, and the alert appeared around 20,200 miles. This is the first issue I've had since I bought it last June, not even a year ago. I'll have to wait until Monday to schedule a service appointment at the dealer. Is it safe to drive in the meantime? What has everyone else's experience been? I know this is a common issue.

*****UPDATE 6/23/2024*****

After reading the codes, this is the same error reported in the 23P18 CSP. Go figure.

Good afternoon. I would like to take a closer look at your check engine warning on my end. To get things started, can you please send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage?

Op, what was the resolution? I had this code pop up while road tripping this last week, however my build date was June of 2023, after what the recall was listed as applying to.

June is still within the range of the 23P18 CSP for this issue

Darmon thank you for posting that. I’m at 52,000 miles, first issue I’ve had, glad it’s minor. I’ll keep you posted 🤞

I drove my 2023 Hybrid with the check engine light on for a week before the dealer performed the 23P18 CSP update. Since then, the issue hasn't returned. The car has been driving perfectly, with no louder engine noise or reduced MPG as others warned. It has been running smoothly ever since.
