I‘m a very new Maverick owner. XLT AWD hybrid with 4k tow package which i haven‘t used yet. I think most people overbuy trucks because, well, they’re trucks! I find the Maverick perfect for my actual needs and the mpg is amazing. Best of luck in your search.

25 hybrid XLT owner here.

19k miles on my truck. Zero issues. 35MPG real world driving overall. Summer and winter. I live in a cold climate and vehicles take a hit in cold weather (all vehicles do).

Never drove a taco so can’t compare.
Absolutely love my truck for what I need it for.
I haul a trailer once in a while.
I haul a canoe on top once in a while.
I haul lumber often.
Truck has all the power and comfort I can ask for. I am a rather frugal guy so less is more in my life.

I would buy the truck again without shopping around if I needed to.

Cherokee has the best comparison to the two trucks since he has had both. He’s just a little biased towards Mav’s though lol.

I test drove a '24 XLT hybrid FWD yesterday. Very nice. The same dealer has a '25 XLT hybrid FWD - about 15k miles vs 23k miles on the '24, and about $800 more money. I think I'm going to go with the '25, unless I can find a 4k AWD hybrid locally for a good price.

Like others have said, I'm also consciously downsizing. I loved all 3 Tacos I've had, and they are excellent at "truck-ing", but they're overkill for what I need now.

Hi folks. Last Saturday night a drunk driver splattered my 2023 Tacoma.

It was parked on the side of the street, and he knocked my truck about 30 feet forward, and 10 feet onto the grass/sidewalk. This will NOT buff out. Luckily I was about a block away, and my wife and I were unharmed.

So I'm very seriously thinking of buying a 2025 XLT FWD Maverick hybrid, Ford Gold CPO with about 15k miles. I'm really excited about the truck, and for what I need, I think it will be perfect. Thanks for letting me in and I hope to learn a lot from everyone,

Wecome to our forum, a lot of us wanted a smaller truck that would fit in a garage when the Maverick was introduced. I also went from a Canyon to down size, and the price for a Maverick was amazing at the time. (Still a bargain) If you plan to keep your Maverick, I suggest getting an ESP from Granger even though your truck is Ford CPO covered.

You might search around and get a brand new 2025 with a great price!

Sorry for your loss, but glad everyone's OK.
The '25 hybrid benefits from an improved eCVT/electric motor system which should improve durability (not that it has been a problem) and enhance your fuel mileage on the FWD model. Have not seen the real world numbers on the FWD though the AWD is down slightly from the '24 FWD only hybrid as I understand things. Other than the front end, larger screen and other switchology changes not much else different from the '22-24 as I see it. The hybrid can handle towing up to about 3000# quite well, even the (not rated for it) FWD on occasion IMO. If your going to regularly tow more than about 2000#, I would look for a AWD 4K. If your towing heavy enough to use 100% tow haul mode, fuel MPG will take a big hit and the hybrid may offer little advantage.

As a victim of a few "hit & run" accidents, I hope this Drunk had insurance and try to make sure HE pays for your new ride. That rarely is the case but should be. Society no longer thinks that any of us need to be accountable for our actions or POOR decisions we make. Truly sad!

I too, like many others here, downsized trucks due to changing lifestyles. I still have, and will always have, at least ONE full size pickup for occasional hauling of larger items. My original (bought it 34 years ago) 1992 F-150 with 8' bed is undergoing a full restoration and when done, will be my "larger backup" truck. Today, I have a new 2026 Maverick hybrid Lariat and love it. the MPG's, safety, and parking features sold me on it.

Pre- 2025 Mavericks have chronic problems with parasitic drain on the battery. Endless threads about it. It won’t kill your tuck but it is very annoying and Ford can’t fix it.

Pre 2025 have chronic issues with front axle failure. Ford will fix and replace them for free if they fail.

Otherwise, plenty of minor and dumb recalls on older vehicles that should all be fixed by now.

From my daily reading on this forum, it seems the 25’ and up have been the most trouble free. Not saying the pre 25’s are not trouble free but the newest vehicle years 25 and 26 have had almost no battery issues except a rare report.

Don’t do the AWD if you don’t drive in snow or off road. It seems it’s not needed. I have AWD and it is REQUIRED for my MN winters.

Do buy the 4k tow if you plan to haul a trailer. Otherwise, not needed. Some people like the 4k tow for upgraded tranny cooler and more potential payload.

Sorry for your loss. I think you will like the Maverick. I would only mention that the used market for Mavericks is high. For a bit more, you might get a 2026 with color and equipment you want. Check out Granger motors to get an idea of what the costs will be locally. Probably a bit more.
