Hi all. Thanks for the add. I’m currently driving a 2012 Kia Sportage with 215,000 miles on it. Definitely looking at next car options at this point and the Maverick is at the top of the list. Just wanted to join and learn from experienced owners before I make my purchase.

Hello and welcome. As far as what the Maverick offers, it's all an individual and personal need that made me purchase one. The diversity of a truck bed, siting higher off the ground for the ocassional outdoor usage and the city mileage of a hybrid car is what sold me. I wanted a small truck with good gas mileage. Not $1,000 monthly payments and $1,200 money spent in gasoline. That's what sold me.

Do you do any type of home improvement/weekend warrior stuff? If so, the Maverick is perfect for the job. Living in Florida you don't really need AWD unless you spend time at the beach/bog. Otherwise it does great as general purpose all around vehicle.

It's a nice little truck, I can say that. But take that with a grain of salt as I have only had it for a little over 3 weeks. It's been perfect for me so far. It drives like an SUV which is nice, but it has the functionality of a truck as I have taken a couple loads to the dump already. And I have the ecoboost but am getting great mileage like my 2008 Camry that it replaced. I reset both trips when I first got it and have left trip 1 as a cumulative total and I reset trip 2 after each fill. So far Trip 1 shows 1260 miles and 27 mpg. Last trip we took we went about 300 miles and got 34 mpg.

Now it's just a matter of reliability/quality and it's WAY too early to see about that. That'll take time to see how things hold up. But with the 10 year comprehensive warranty I got with it, at least if something does happen between now and July of 2034, I'm covered.

Hey. Welcome to the club!
The common thread here among the members is that we love the Maverick. Unless you need to tow something over 4,000 lbs, the Maverick is the perfect truck for 95% of the people 95% of the time. Great mileage, terrific ride, roomy interior, and reasonably priced . . . the only decisions you'll need to make is to go hybrid or ecoboost and the packages that go with it. Feel free to ask MTC members about those choices; they're more than happy to help out.

Yes, all that.
And, it's not gigantic, it's versatile, handles like a car, and reasonable long term costs (tires, oil, maintenance etc.)
