I used my Maverick to haul dirt recently, wasn't sure how much to haul at one time.

Local supplier uses a small skid loader, I would guess the bucket is about 5 foot wide. When they loaded the dirt they did so at an angle to the bed (not straight on or from the side) and most of the dirt landed in the bed. I got one bucket full which equals 1/2 yard of dirt.

I could feel the steering looser while driving due to the weight in the back but not enough to be a concern.

I do feel a full yard of dirt would be too much.

All depends on how wet the material is. In theory a full yard of top soil (less weight than fill) is around 1080 pounds, with a 150-250 driver, it would be within payload, if there isn't much else in the truck. If that is the case, 1/2 yard would be around 500 pounds.

My largest load so far was just over 600 pounds, and there was a bit of squat, but not enough to be concerned. when moving soil I find it's best to spread it out after they drop it in the bed.

1/2 a yard of dirt weighs roughly 1000 lbs depending on moisture content.
I have a dump bed trailer that holds 5+ yards, when I have them dump a 5 yard bucket in it my 2500hd is basically maxed out for towing
