This has to be one of the most ignorant posts gaining views on this forum I've seen in awhile. It's complete crap.
Okay... angry much?

Unfortunately, I was not in a position to buy in 2021 as I had just bought a Ridgeline. In hindsight, I wish I had held onto my 2019 Ranger a bit longer and been an early adopter. I strongly considered buying last year, but honestly, I held out because for some dumb reason I thought the 2024 would bring changes like AWD hybrid, etc.

While the price increases suck, I have been following this truck since it launched. I spent the better part of 2022 and 2023 researching the truck, watching hours upon hours of YouTube videos, reading the Truck Club forums, reading the Maverick Sub-Reddit, and build and pricing the vehicle nearly 50 times (not lying). I am excited to have placed an order yesterday for an XLT FX4 Atlas Blue Maverick. I am even more excited to take delivery of the truck.

If I was ordering a 2024 it would either be an XL or something else. My cutoff is $28k (30k including taxes, etc) as this is my day to day/ work vehicle, I am not spending a fortune on it. It still isn't bad priced just more than I would be willing to spend.

I wouldn't go with Eco for me as I put 30k+miles on a year. Knowing that an XL is unlikely to be built I would get something else. My current vehicle is nearing 300k miles so time to get a new one. Luckily I have a build week 8/28 for an XLT. So crossing fingers this gets built.

I am disappointed in Ford that the hybrid is no longer the base engine. Not because of it not meeting my price point but because it was the ONLY vehicle regardless of Brand or Model that a hybrid was the base model, including their other models. I felt that it was innovative of Ford to prioritize fuel economy by making it more affordable where you don't have to spend more to get good mileage. Unfortunately, greed took over.

I didn't keep up previous years on when to order but Monday I was able to order an XL 2.0L AWD 4K tow package and spray in bedliner for $28,500. A similar 2023 build was roughly $27,000.

I've read too many times that XL takes longer to build but with so many XLT and higher orders being posted, hopefully my XL will be done by April 2024.

If y'all go look at what is for sale out there USED, it's wild. XLs with miles on them going for 30K. Locking in a 24 at MSRP (even with the increase) is still a good move in this market. That probably won't change between now and when 24s start arriving.
I agree, when I first went to do a test drive for a 2023 Maverick, the dealer had a used 2022 XLT AWD EB with ~18K miles. They were asking a "discounted" $46K+ for it. I said thanks but no thanks and began looking into when the 2024 order books would open.

Went back to that dealer on Monday morning to put my order in. The books weren't open yet, they took my info to call me when they did. I checked into a different dealer a few hours later and they said to come down. I went down, put in my order. It was accepted by Ford that night. I signed my agreement the next morning and paid my deposit. All the while, the original dealer has yet to call... I plan to stop by and ask them this afternoon.

So, with the MY24 Maverick build and price now available online, I played around a bit this morning and came to this conclusion: a decently equipped Maverick will now set you back $35,000-$37,000, on average.

Now, I realize my definition of "decently equipped" is subjective. For the purposes of this discussion, I am tossing out bare bones XL builds and the Lariat trim completely. Rather, I am focused on the XLT -- widely considered to be the "sweet spot" for the Maverick.

For 2024, to get an XLT with the luxury package (meets my definition of "decently equipped" compared to many other trucks and SUVs on the market) and EITHER the Tremor off-road package, FX4 Off-Road Package, Black Appearance Package or 4K Towing Package, the truck now sits in the $35,000-$37,000 range. You can play with the build and price tool all you want, but the way Ford has done things for 2024 means you can no longer get FX4 without 4K, you can no longer get BAP without XLT Lux, you can no longer get the Tremor package without CP 360, etc.

Basically, they've configured the builds to force you to potentially take a package you don't want to get one you do. Certainly makes sense from a profitability standpoint, and probably will also help Ford meet demand going forward, as I no longer see the Maverick as a highly compelling option at these prices. I personally would not be interested in a "base" XL, nor would I ever consider going to $40K for a Lariat Lux.

Anyway, I am SUPER GLAD I have my 2022 XLT FX4 LUX (still with only 5,500 miles) and I got it for under $32K and 1.9% financing. I guess I have been around this group long enough to be the grumpy old man of Maverick Truck Club, but the glory days for the Maverick may be coming to an end from a value standpoint.
I just ordered a 2024 XLT with 2.0 ecoboost, the Luxury and Black appearance package. With the addition to both packages with includes bedliner it priced out the same as 2023.

Glad you got one in. So long as you aren't in need of a vehicle, it's for sure the way to go. Time to just whisper sweet nothings to its replacement so she makes it til the Maverick is here.

I would maybe leave out the tidbit that you were able to get an order in. See if the original folks will let you place one without a deposit. Can't hurt to try.

Ford is eliminating their problem by making the hybrid engine an option. When people see the $1500 price for the option they will shy away from it.
I'm not shying away from it. At $1,500 more, for me the improved gas mileage of the hybrid will pay for itself within ~3 years with the miles that I drive per year.
Also, since I was looking to add the options that are now standard for the Lariat, the overall increase wasn't that much and will make the ROI that much quicker.
