Great idea, however it looks to be spec'd for full size trucks. Ladder length set to minimum is 35". Tailgate height is 30". Ladder angle would be about 60 degrees vs a typical angle of 75 degrees.

Tried a similar (more expensive) product and wasn't satisfied with the way it mounted. You have to select one side to mount, or buy two mounting bases. Then you have, one or two, protrusions sticking up on your tailgate to interfere with loading/unloading. Ended up removing it and using this:

Bought two, one stays in the truck under the front seat, the other is left unfolded in my garage for ready access when needed. Much less expense, easily replaced, and out of the way when not needed.

A simple solution would be to buy a folding step stool. I've had this one for years. ( B&R Plastics) It's 12 inches high unfolded and can support 300lbs. Weighs 4 lbs.

Could also go with something like this step stool working platform. More pricey, doesn't fold as flat as the plastic one, weighs almost twice as much but has a higher 375lb capacity and has a 13" height.

I wouldn't want to bolt one of those folding ladders to the tailgate, but that's me.

I had one like that and it fell apart after just a couple of uses. And I am just one double cheeseburger under 200 lb:)

Sorry.
It’s on Amazon, but I am having a stupid hard time trying to post the link.

That one looks nice. I might give it a shot. If nothing else it seems like a decent stool to have on hand.
I love it, and bought a second just to keep in the garage. I think it’s got like 500 lbs load bearing, so it is useful for lots of other things as well.

I have one like that and keep it in the floorboard behind the passenger seat.
