The finished product, at least in V. Blue looks good. I can see doing this for an XL or XLT with black bar. I am getting a Lariat and do not want to change the silver bar. I am considering the vinyl insert within the bar. However, not really seeing a good color match of the cactus gray........

I really like that idea. Wonder how to match the paint. Don't have a sprayer like that either.

Try automotivetouchup.com. They have 12 oz. spray cans of just about any color you want as well as clear coat. I have used their products a lot and their color matches are spot-on. Just refinished an area on the lower front bumper cover on the '07 Mustang GT/CS I just bought that had evidently brushed a curb sometime in the past. A little sanding prep, primer, basecoat and clearcoat and it looks factory. Don't know if a 12 oz. can would do the whole grill bar, but it might, depending on what color primer you use.

I have a Lariat as well and I plan to add a white stripe to the center to match the truck.

I kind of prefer the gray bar staying gray to match the wheels on xlt. But hey everyone has options to do as they please!

I agree that DIY modifications are way more fun ans less expensive. The pride and joy of completing a project to personalize a one-of-a-kind vehicle is well worth the self satisfaction.

Is there a online store where you can buy the grill bar from the XLT or XL trim? I have the Lariat grill bar and I can not stand the gray/silver design. I prefer the black from XL or XLT. It looks to easy to swap them out.

You can’t on XL. I think the bar is one piece with the grill.

All the grills are 2 piece on the Mav, they are just bolted to the grill so you either have to take the bumper off or pry the top part of the grill off to reach the bolts to detach the center bar.
