Ok folks, this is my first post since joining your ranks. A little background about my aftermarket vehicle skills...I recently traded in a 2019 5G Ranger that was a very awesome truck. I installed an exhaust system, BOV, running boards and a really cool 3M wrap on the hood, door handles, mirrors and tailgate handle. It was also tuned with the hottest Livernois OTS set-up....a real sleeper down on College Ave here in Fort Collins, CO. I used to run her down there on Friday and Saturday nights and it was very competitive against some pretty quick vehicles....WRX STi's, VW GTI's and such.....anyway, she's gone now and I have a brand new Maverick Lariat in the Area 51 color. I'm going with the orange trim (It looks good with that Blue/Gray color). So I made my own brackets and installed LED amber grill lights (Like the Tacoma's) on my Ranger and I want to do the same on the Maverick. Since we have those 5 plastic pod looking pieces just below the hood I plan on drilling right into those to install new light pods....my question is, has anyone tapped into the DRL's right at the headlight area? If so, send me a picture of what wire to tap for power that will run these lights when the DRL's are on....I would very much appreciate any help in that area. I can figure it out myself for sure but why reinvent the wheel? (I'm a former Air Force Electronics Specialist) So don't let the Biologist moniker fool you either....lol 😉

I just installed drl & turn signal lights on my Maverick. I used the wires that this guy suggested for each. I did use a different ground to do the install. I hope this helps 🤟
Also, Welcome to the forum!

The problem is the BCM monitors the power draw of the Lariat headlight integrated accent lighting used as DRL. So powering a light directly off their wiring will work once or twice and then the system will shut it down. With an EcoBoost you can use a fuse tap on the PCM Micro2 fuses in the underhood junction box (fuses 11-14) if you want them lit whenever the truck is running. Or tap into the corner marker wiring if you're fine with it only working when the lights are on. Potentially could have the markers function as DRL with FORScan.

Sounds right….i did the same thing with my Ranger and had to find the correct configuration in ForScan to get it the way I wanted….may need to do the same here. I’ve already configured ForScan to kill the double honk with key away and turned on the Sport and Eco modes…LOVE that program. I’ll have to post some pics of the Ranger…you folks would love what I did to that thing…have to say I miss her! Unfortunately I drive a long way to work each day and she had an issue at 106K that convinced me to trade her in….i got a GREAT deal on a Bronco Sport for the wife when she went down….the dealer fixed her up and just sold her last week…wouldn’t tell me what they got for her…she was a beast for sure!! Thanks for the input brother!

Cool, you have a legal drag strip on "College Ave" - sounds like something smart versus, you know, illegal street racing on public streets.
Yeah…I don’t do that anymore….not smart to endanger the public. Insurance rates will make a smarter person out of you when you get the bill each month😉

Is there a way to have only the signal lights on as my DRLs without using forscan and using a mechanical method more like this?
