Did get in some mild Off-Road today for the first time. And the Mav' (and 'dreaded' Pirelli's) did better than expected!
Was regular to medium rough forest service roads, some pretty big water holes (biggest was about ten(ish) inches deep) Medium sized rocks, thick mud and quite a bit of snow.
Only had three issues:
*Slid off the trail a bit and had a little tough time to get going. Was about 10⁰ incline and 7-8 inches of snow so the tires did not wanna grip. A bit of shoveling, back-and-forth action and 'calibrated' right foot got me out. (Held the momentum all the way up the trail since it became obvious that if I had stopped even 'in the groves' probably wouldn't been able to get going since it increased to about 14⁰ inclination at the end).
*Had two rather hard contacts with the ground, which sheard of two screws that hold the skidplate to the front airdam... Will straighten that and replace the bolts when I do a full oil change here soon (got 900ish miles on it). Also dragged thru the snow quite a bit, but that didn't really do anything and was expected with the rather low clearance.
*Noticed the left rear tail light sure gets hit pretty good with road spray. Will get mudflaps to stop that.

Overall was a good day!
Proved to be able to do all I'll be wanting from it. For more extreme stuff, exploring and overlanding, I got a built Jeep, so happy camper!

Sounds like a great time. You might want some taller Falkens, or something similar, if you're going to do much more roading. I'm shocked by the picture of the mud just running out of your taillight. Wow. Ford. Come on. That is unacceptable.

Was actually going to do some Pew-pew training... But the area where I usually go now have some mining/digging going on! Hopefully when they are done it might be even better. 😎

Been eyeballing tires since before I took delivery actually. But a few things have hold me off. One is the cost. Gonna have to drop a grand or so for new tires, but also having brand new tires on the truck... which are worth $0 when getting the new ones! And now after playing with them, they are not that bad (as people claimed!).
Also the gain in ground clearance is fairly small. Have to step up the hight quite a bit which quickly becomes fitment issues and a drop in MPG's.
When these ATR's are toasted I'll definitely go for a good A/T tire in a slightly bigger size though.

You may want to look at this thread I created. Build an underbody shield to protect the left rear area. There are other threads out there on the same subject.
Did read thru that one thoroughly! Very nice write up and a good design. Might make one.
But looking at it closer today I think a good mudflap and a cover for the opening (or spendy Rokblokz) in the wheel well will stop the spray and fix it. Definitely a poorly thought through design by Ford... Wouldn't been hard or costly to just extend the wheel well liner down, squared off, and it wouldn't be an issue at all!

Love the red tow hooks. Would be super cool to run into you on the forest service roads up here.
Thanks!
I think it's a nice touch and make the truck look a bit more Off-Road ready.
Definitely would be cool to meet out there. (This was in Capitol State forest btw.)

Ah, thanks for the location. Couldn't quite place it.

I'm mostly out in the Cascades, usually off Stampede Pass, when the conditions allow in the early summer through late fall. I've seen one other Maverick "off-road" down in the Gifford Pinchot and looking forward to seeing many more.

Looks like a whole lotta fun. Thanks for stopping and taking some pictures along the way. Appreciate the information as well.

I was going to wait until I needed tires. Than decided to just upgrade to p235 on the order. It was cheaper than buying new tires and it came with different rims. Not a fan of black rims especially when they show nicks. To be honest not sure if I would live long enough to add the P235 and this way the speedometer and odometer are correct with a little larger tire. I'm hoping the information I got on line that if you upgrade to p235 you get the falken wildpeak is correct. If not I'll have to live with whatever is on it. Hoping to pick it up the end of the month or first of April. It's nice to see you using it for what it was intended for and having fun doing it. If that snow is like it is in the spring in Michigan it's packed and more like ice, it maybe why it sheared those bolts.

I will say that everyone I know with Rokblokz has nothing but good things to say about them. I have been very happy with them on my truck.

upgrade to p235 you get the falken wildpeak is correct.
The opposite here, was actually a part of why I got the FX4 package.
They should be WildPeak's, but wonder which ones now when Falken discontinued the AT3W's with the '4's'...
Let us know when you get the truck please!

Really appreciate that picture! Haven't been able to find any that shows it so well.
Might bite the bullet on them... since it's a quick and easy fix, and will look good with a red logo to match my FX4 decal and red tow hooks 🤓
