Haven’t seen any actual Mav’s in these colors but lots of cars rolling around now in what appear to me as near identical shades

Why has every car company all of a sudden decided a weird grey and pastel blue are the next must have colors

Not sure how this is a question. They are cool, and more modern looking- if you don’t like them there are lots of other options. A lot of people do, hence the huge demand.

Also, they are quite a bit different than those brands mentioned, I agree on the Subaru being more powder blue, but to me area51 is richer and slightly darker/ more grey in it.

Same with the velocity blue. I'm glad to see the manufacturers branching out color-wise. Tired of the blacks, silvers, whites, and greys.

Just started noticing them recently. Walked by a Kia dealership and they all looked Cactus Grey. My neighbour has what appears an Area 51 Outback and I noticed a few Audis today in the grey.

Seems to be a thing right now

I ordered area 51 (dont have it yet ) I have seen both that and catus gray on the maverick "in person" they both look great, a little different than the same old silvers-met grays etc
Im from old school when I ordered my 1974 ford elite in RED interior red vinyl roof white ext. even the 80's had choices ordered a 84 cougar "light wheat" ext and Wheat interior , they use to have lots of great combos ,

Probably a combination of car manufacturers becoming aware their customers want 'free' color options that are more varied and some industrial facility devising some new color/chemical compositions that can be made cheap. I guess the first because of how popular these new 'greys' seem to be (I have a Cactus Grey Maverick myself and I get more comments on how much people like the color than I do on the Maverick itself) and the second because so multiple vehicle manufactures are offering roughly the same 'new' colors at roughly the same time.

Now I’m seeing Mazda in the CG color and Tacoma’s in what I imagine Area 51 to be. I think it’s called Lunar Rock.

these 2 color’s are the new white and black. Weird they all hit at the exact same time. Or maybe I just started noticing.

edit. Add Nissan just spotted. Feel like I’m in an episode of twilight zone.

At one point had a mid-1990s Chevy Astro van in what was for all intents and purposes Velocity Blue. Blue velour-like fabric upholstery, too. Also blue interior panels, blue steering wheel.

Lunar Rock is more of a greenish color than Area 51. It’s lighter too. It’s more akin to Cactus Gray but they’re still different.

Many manufacturers have a matte gray now. It’s just a matter of how saturated they are and what tinge of color. They’re all slightly different though.

Have you ever noticed this with movies too?

A Bugs Life - Ants
Armageddon - Deep Impact

Glitch in the Matrix. Money Talks….pick a cliche saying.

Thank god! My aesthetic makes me hate both metal flake and 50 shades of grey which is what cars have come in for the last ten years. I think Ford could have given us a better orange (Giants fan) and a better red, but I saw the cactus grey on a Bronco during morning drop off at my school (for which I am the official greeter and happy I went to graduate school for that honor) and didn’t want it…needed it.
