If the battery goes completely dead how do I get it out of park on my 2024 xl ecoboost ? This happened with my Honda pilot with push button shifter and the tow company had to drag it onto the trailer to take it to the dealer. Found out that with that Honda you cannot get it out of park without going under the car and a special tool to use on the topside of the transmission.

+1 on a jump box. Any wrecker service worth anything should have one with their other tools.

Good investment to keep in any vehicle, whether you use it on yours or jumping someone else's vehicle. No risk of damaging your vehicle's electronics if you jump someone else (ask me how I know). And you don't have to position two vehicles side by side for a jump. Much safer than jumper cables.

NOCOs on Amazon have many safety features and they work well, but there are many other brands.

According to the manual, there's an override which takes the vehicle out of park. If you take the rubber insert out of the console, there an access panel. Remove that and there should be an orange or red strap you pull while pressing the brake pedal. However, when I had this same issue and tried to use the override, I discovered that it was never installed! Had garage look for it as well and they said it isn't there. Don't know how common an issue this is. Dealership is supposed to be contacting ford to find out if it can be installed. Otherwise, truck has to be dragged or the wheels set on dollies.

FYI- The override switch is not there on a hybrid. They can use a jump box. and get into the menu on the Speedo and switch it into neutral. It will count down from 10 sec with a warning going into neutral. The worst case (my Case) - If you have a internal error or it wont count down. you will have to have it put on 4 dolly tow. where they but a dolly under each wheel and tow it up a flat bed to the dealer. It was dead in my driveway for 2 days.

Just asking...Could you not disconnect battery cables and hook jump box to the cables, removing battery from the equation?
