Received today. This thing sucks. Boggles my mind people are out there cutting up the trim on their brand new vehicle. The emergency clamps go on the bed rails, but you cannot insert the clamp slide block without first removing the tie down cleats, and you cannot do that without removing the whole rail first. Way more trouble than what it is worth.

Edit-reading old posts and seeing people just clamp it to the plastic trim despite what the instructions say. Good luck with that when it flies off.
Installed mine to the rail without removing it. Just followed the pictorial diagrams in the instructions. Popped off the end cap, in goes the block, tightened everything down snug with the threaded stud in one of the cleat spots. Put endcap back on. So far, this cover has been excellent. Owned it for almost 2 months now. For those that are cutting the trim, that is what the instructions say to do if you don't have a rail system, because those emergency clamps are not meant to be attached to the same brittle plastic as the regular clamps.

I agree, I don't understand the thinking of those who are clamping the emergency clamps to their plastic trim. I tried helping some people out on reddit, and all I got was "....well......that's interesting, I think I'll do it the other way though. much easier." Pshh......Oh, well. Can only try and help ppl so much until it falls on them to help themselves.

The instructions say to cut the plastic trim if it extends below the metal. It doesn't on mine. I suspected it doesn't on everyone else's to. Weird yours does.

I agree though that the cover is pretty garbage. Leaks pretty bad, and the foam corners readily absorb water. Probably not a big problem, unless the temperature drops to the single digits after a rain and the cover freezes in place like it did to me this morning.

When I get time, I'm going to try and refit mine in the hopes it helps with the leaking, but I don't have high hopes. The problem areas appear to be the flex points. The rubber gasket there is collapsing horizontally, creating gaps.

Plastic trim flush with the metal flange = extends below the metal for this install, and also needs to be cut. The clips need to be touching metal. That’s why on the drawing it shows enough plastic being cut away to see the metal flange.

The non-emergency clamps also need to be touching metal. Even if your plastic trim is flush with the metal flange, you should cut the plastic so those 4 other clamps are all touching metal.

I think I am missing the pieces that slide into the rail anyways. I called Gator as the instructions say they are open until 11 pm EST, and they were closed. What a joke of a company.

Here's your answers for the Gater SFX Tri Fold Bed Cover. BUY IT! This is the best cover for the lowest price. I paid $237.15 total with tax was $254.27. Easy install on Maverick, spring loaded rear clamps for quick opening, and closing, front clamps have knobs on threaded rods for complete removal if required. One person operation. Phone # 844 472 3062 You may even get a better price by asking.

Does this thing still not come with hardware to mount the safety straps to the bed rails?

Gadsden sticker is a little low, but oh well, as long as you can see the snek it's all good. If you know you know, haha.

My SFX just came today and I'm hopefully picking up my truck next week. So did your cover come with extra hardware for the bed rail? Or does part of the safety clamp double as the block that slides into the bedrail? Mind posting a photo?

Looking good! Mine shows arriving tomorrow. Did you guys just drop it on and install it or did you need to remove some plastic pieces from the truck?
