Same here. The design of it allows it to hold water that freezes when the temp drops.I don't know about the Maverick, but my Bronco Sport has the same style and it's never happened. I've had the opposite where, in the cold weather, it won't open.
Spray the inside with silicone and the water won’t freeze to it as easily. It’s water resistant so it will be reapplication from time to time. Just wait tell winter and apply as needed.I don't know about the Maverick, but my Bronco Sport has the same style and it's never happened. This was posted a few months ago but I can’t remember a solution or find the postings. Does it close with a magnet?Hey there! Taking it back to warranty repair for this- is anyone seeing a way to repair by yourself or is this common?

Ah yeah mine is ecoBoostYou should edit your poll to be clear if you are asking about EcoBoost or Hybrid Mavericks because they have completely different fuel doors.
Hahaha! This is funny I did that today and I wondered. I’ll pay attention!Mine did a couple times when I first got it, but realized it was my fat belly popping it open when I reached into the truck bed. Never had it happen since I realized what was going on with it.
Only the hybrid locks and has button inside and that is only because it is pressurized, not for "security"I wonder why Hybrids have a fuel door release, but not the Ecos?
