It has been demonstrated that running headlamps increases 12v battery charging all the way to 100% in 2022-2024 hybrids.

It has been demonstrated that running parking lamps charges the 12v battery to 100% in 2022-2024 hybrids.

DRL only does NOT have this effect.

Has anyone used Forscan to set headlamps to always on?

Has anyone used Forscan to set parking lamps on with DRL?

Has anyone programmed "headlamp switch retains last setting vs. always returns to auto"?

These are work-arounds to force battery charging. It appears to override any state of charge settings and batteries will go to 100%.

I'm happy to speak up on this subject!
As you will realize I am an old school person that has been driving for 53 years.
AM, AM-FM, 8 track, cassette, CD, flash drive, Bluetooth, and WI-FI. Yes things change.
I learned to drive from my father while towing our travel trailer while on vacation.
All lights on all the time! No computer to tell you, you just did it like the truckers back then.
In the 70's while traveling in Canada, I learned it was the law to have headlights on while driving on a 2 lane road. It made persons passing to be seen by on coming traffic.
Later, I believe GM developed DRL. Day Time Running lights.
Working in a Volvo dealership starting in 1985, I was further impressed about safety.
When you start your new Volvo, all the lights came on, all the time.
Now I come to my complaint.
How many cars and trucks do you see now driving with only DRL's on in the complete dark? No taillights.
How many times do you see people driving with no lights on in the complete dark?
Their clusters are lit up, so they think their lights are on?
Our government mandates us with everything we do, except they dropped the ball on this lighting issue.
In my opinion this is a major safety issue.
I started out driving my 2025 FWD hybrid Maverick with the lights in "Auto" mode until I realized I was blinding cars waiting at an intersection. The truck doesn't know they are there.
So now the lights are fully on with me still driving like I learned in the 60's. The truck does remind me to turn them off though.
Remember, the more you do for people, the less they know how to do for themselves.
As always, just my opinion...

Can you explain this? There should be no difference in how you're affecting people at an intersection with the lights on in "Auto" mode vs. "On" mode.

Was your intention to say "Auto high beam" rather than "Auto"? I'm assuming this is the case, since auto high beam would be the only setting that would require the truck to "know they are there".

Good day

I can't agree more, it is scary when some D-A flies by me at night with only DRL on...and then they just disappear in the darkness ahead...at least in the city, you can see them more easily.

There needs to be a change where they only have the park lights come on (so have small lights in front and back)...and D-A's won't be able to see at all if outside the city and will realize their error...probably.

I see this not only in night time, it is during inclement weather as well. So every fog event, snow storm, rain storm etc these idiots are out there, possibly causing accidents.

It drives me when I see them...and their accidents can increase all our premiums.

Cheers

Andy

So back to the question:

Who has used Forscan to implement changes to the headlamps or parking lamps?

From the factory the default is auto.

The only option I've seen documented or browsing through FORScan related to your question is the ability to run parking lamps as DRLs, or parking lamps in combination with headlights as DRLs. I don't run DRLs at all to extend the lifetime of my LED headlights, but I did try the changes to use parking lamps instead and they didn't work for me. In fact, that was the only documented FORScan option I've tried to implement among many that was unsuccessful.

I have not seen a way to start the vehicle in "On" headlight mode rather than "Auto".

Back before I retired.
Couple times a month, on the way to the shop, I would see the same lady driving to work at 4:00 in the morning, with only her very dim daylight driving lights on. One morning I pulled up next to her and asked her. Why she doesn't turn her headlights on? She thought they were automatic headlights.
As I recall correctly, her headlight control was on one of the steering wheel stalks. It needed to be turned inorder to turn on the headlights.
She was amazed at how bright her actual headlights were.🙄

Will Auto-High Beams cycle in the daylight?

I have no idea. Perhaps if @bcooke would explain what he meant, it would make more sense.
After a little searching.
I don't believe they do.
Key phrase. It has to be 'Dark Enough'
I think people were flashing him at the intersection to tell him his headlights were on.
