Fuel gauge calibration

My 25 Lariat fuel gauge reads way low until it gets around 1/4, then stays there until reading correctly. Is there any way to calibrate it? My old John Deere lawn mower has an accurate fuel gauge. Why can’t my new Maverick?

Do you fill it up with the key turned? that take a long time to rest properly.. No way to calibrate. It will be the gauge or the sender. Someone with a scan tool that allows gauge testing to check the gauge and go from there.
