I love the look of the old frontier's lifted roof rails (early 2000's), the BS has a similar design, but so far no spy pics have shown anything like it...how hard would they be to install? I wouldn't need a whole cargo basket up there

We have seen photo of the high trim Mavericks, and none have included a roof rail. There is that black strip that runs along the inside edge of the doors on the roof from the windshield to the rear window. That might be there for an optional roof rail system. I don't know what other purpose it would have. If it's simply a drip rail, why isn't it body color?

that black strip is actually a cover for the welded seam underneath where sides of the cab are attached to the roof. I've had those on multiple vehicles purchased over at least the last 20 years. IIRC, the 1st time I actually investigated was on my 1997 Ford Escort.
