Got my truck on Monday, so I had to get some of those great accessories that I've seen everybody posting about here at the MTC.
Today, I put on the replacement tailgate tie downs, and the Arana tailgate assist. I've seen some complaints about this particular assist, that it lets the tailgate fall part way before it catches, and I found out the reason - you have to mount the assist with the fat tube at the top of the tailgate. If you put the assist on with the skinny part that extends from the tube on top, it will drop partially before it catches. I noticed this when watching install videos that had it both ways. I did mine with the fat tube up top and it drops smooth as can be. I also put on the tailgate hole cover, and the trailer hitch cover from Mabett. Both look great. But I will warn anyone using the hitch cover to use tape (masking, duct, etc.) on the face until you get it put on. It takes some work, and the hitch can scuff the face pretty easily. Mine scuffed a tiny bit, but I worked on it with some Meguiars Ultimate Black plastic restorer, and unless you get an inch away from the cover, you could never tell. Finally, in the interior, I put in the Mabett top dashboard cover; the Maxzina center console organizer; the Maxzina cup holder near the shifter; and the Maxzina rear under-seat storage trays. I thought some of this stuff might look cheap or cheesy, but it all looks factory/OEM and adds a little protection to some of the plastic surfaces inside the truck, and a little black coloring to offset some of the blue plastic. By the time I got done, it was getting dark out, so I didn't snap any photos. I've got some PSLER hybrid floor mats coming this weekend, so when I get those in, I'll try to snap some photos of every accessory then. Accessorizing the Maverick reminds me of when I was younger, and used to customize a couple of Honda Civics that I had (Hatchback and CRX). It's fun, it's inexpensive, and it makes the truck YOURS!
