The trucks haven't even been delivered yet, and an oil thread has already happened. This is the bane of every car/truck/motorcycle/tractor forum I belong to.
It can be done. One bike faces forward and the other faces rearward. The wheel wells donāt matter as the engine case will sit above them. I use to put 3 bikes in my 1500; two facing forward and one between them facing the rear.
Are you 4' tall?
In all seriousness, I have a pop-up bed tent for my GMC with a 6.5" bed. I'm 6'1" tall and I use a air mattress with the tent. It's comfortable - but I don't think the Maverick has enough room for me to comfortably lay down. No without my legs sticking out of the tent.
A lighter wheel takes less power to rotate/accelerate. A higher unsprung weight makes the suspension work harder. Lighter is always better, unless strength is compromised.
Oh, and steel wheels scram āIām cheapā.
I think people who take their Maverick off-road (true off-road, not a fire trail) will be surprised at how easily the drive train is damaged. The AWD system in the Maverick is designed for snow/gravel/mud - not rock climbing.
Iāve been hauling bikes in the back of a truck for 40 yearsā¦and Iāve never experienced any of those problems. BTW, if it rains while Iām hauling my bike, I just consider that a pre wash.
Loading and unloading are quite easy if you use a bike stand as a step. I would think with the Maverick the...
As I mentioned in the other thread that suggested an electric version of the Maverick - if it has dual (f/r) motors I'd buy it. Looking at the above photo, it does appear to have the AWD IRS, so it is possible that there will be an AWD electric Maverick.
CD players have gone the way of the 8 Track. I own a restaurant that has live music. Performers hand me CDās and Iām like ā how am I supposed to listen to this?ā
Cost cutting. This is an entry level vehicle. To go with a piece of glass that would fill that void could cost hundreds for the glass itself, and then thousands of hours of programing/testing/validating the software changes. And then they have to maintain it. If far easier to simply apply a...
The Maverick looks to be a great platform. Well done Ford. I've owned almost every domestic and import brand...with the exception of a Ford. That is going to change.
I've owned pick-ups with both 8' and 6.5' beds...so my opinion comes from the stand point of someone that is a space snob.
With that said, I think that the bed in the Maverick is brilliant. It's small...but oh so useful. Well done Ford. It's really perfect for my needs.
It's absolutely on-topic. A successful/profitable platform is one that will be in the market for several life cycles. Maverick could hit one million units by the end of it's platform life (probably through two refreshes). If it doesn't sell well, say 50,000 units or less (looking at you...
