Has anyone found a center console front tray with a usb cable built into the phone stand? Since sync 3 doesn’t support wireless Apple car play or android auto it would seem someone would have developed this by now. The spot where you can stand the phone up is setup perfect for this just like many nightstand chargers work.

There are some wireless carplay/anroid auto that plug into the usb port. Though what I'm wondering is if you can plug in the usb for the android auto and then pop it on the wireless charger in the tray.

If you mean does the charging mat work when something is plugged into the adjacent USB ports, it does. I have wireless dongle for AA plugged in there and use the mat to charge phone.

I didn’t realize that wireless CarPlay wasn’t standard when I bought my truck. I saw the wireless charging and just assumed it did like my previous 2 leases.
Luckily, I had a CPlay2air CarPlay adapter from years ago sitting in a drawer so I have that plugged in and velcro-ed under the usb port. I charge my phone on the wireless charging pad or keep it in my pocket if it doesn’t need juice.

I've got a clear epoxy kit that I'm planning to use for just this purpose. Going to set up the USB C plug to be in position, so I can just pop the phone in or out of the upright part of the tray. I'd also tried using a wireless charger on the flat part of the tray, and it worked fine, but I like using the (in my case) Android Auto functionality. But yeah, it would be nice if a vendor made a solution like this. I'll post pictures of the result, hope to have it done within a couple of weeks.

I have the Motorola MA1 Wireless Car Adapter. It takes 10-30 seconds to hook up, and you can't plug in the phone to charge until the adapter recognizes my phone; otherwise it works fine.

YES, exactly what I’m talking about. I am considering something like what you are planning on doing.

I’ve looked at those devices/dongles some have posted about but not a fan based on research. start up lag, interface delay on clicks, and i dont trust plugging something like that into my phone. Most likely being overly cautious. There is no way to know what undocumented features are going on in the background.

My XLT DOESN’T EVEN HAVE THE WIRELESS CHARGING PAD, THE SPOT IS THERE FOR IT, BUT THERE’S NOTHING CONNECTED UNDERNEATH. I HAVE ADDED A WIRELESS CARPLAY DONGLE AND I’M USING A MAGSAFE CHARGER AT THE MOMENT.
