I have been looking at the various threads about adding a front camera (not dash camera) to the Sync 3 (mine is a 2024 Lariat). I did see one thread that indicated Camera Source had such a camera but the installation instructions look to be from an F-150. Has anyone actually installed one on a Maverick? Any Maverick specific installation instructions available?

you will not be able to do this with a 22-24 Maverick of any trim level because they do not have a factory option for it, so the things you'd need to change in Forscan simply aren't there to even be able to change.

I suspect it can be done on a 25+ since they have a factory option, but I bet it would not be simple.

if you really want a front camera just buy an aftermarket backup camera that can display on smartphone/tablet. some of these display on a replacement rear view mirror but I'm not sure it's useful looking all the way up there while trying to park or drive off-road.

I contacted Camera Source and this is the reply I received.

ā€œThanks for reaching out! Here is the option we have that will work on your 2024 Maverick – even though it says 8ā€ Sync 4 we have verified it will work on the 2024 Maverick 8ā€ Sync 3

7CS-ULPM-8S4 - Universal Front Camera For 2021-2023 F-150 and 2022-2023 Super Duty 8" SYNC 4 Displayā€

I’m going to give it a shot since they said they confirmed it works. If it doesn’t then they shouldn’t complain about returning it.

I’ll reply to this thread with the results.

that's a shtload of money for something that I'm highly confident will not work. also, where are they shipping from? if it's from China you are going to pay a huge tariff on it probably marked as a shipping fee.

this is a red flag:
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: Note that some countries will charge a duty tax at the border and these charges are the responsibility of the buyer. Camera Source does not charge international duty and does not collect money associated with these charges. All duties/taxes are typically collected by the shipping company prior to final delivery. Camera Source will not discount products in an attempt to reduce tax burden for the customer.

Thanks for the concern, Camera Source ships from Oak Creek, WI, so the concerns about duties and taxes seem to be from orders to other countries, not to the US, which is why the note was titled "INTERNATIONAL ORDERS".

They offer a 10% Military and First Responder discount and they claim to assist with installation issues. They do state that original shipping costs will not be refunded for returns. The interface they include with the camera is from Navicks, they are also a US company based in Brooklyn NY. Navicks also offers installation support, and if I want to go to them they will do the work (at a cost I am sure).

None of this seems to require Chinese support. I suspect that some of the components are made in China, or some other SE Asian country as it's way too expensive to make it here with the OSHA safety standards, EPA environmental standards, and the significantly higher wages and benefits in the US.

I bought a tonneau cover from a company that swore they had verified it worked on a Maverick and was water tight! It was not and barely covered the bed by about 1/4" on each side. I was out $129 for return shipping. So I would be leery if this is the only company saying it will work.
Thanks for the concern. Both Camera Source and the interface provider Navicks claim it will work, both are US companies and both offer assistance with installation issues. Navicks will actually do the install if I go to their shop in Brooklyn NY. I am sure that work is at an additional cost if it's needed.

fyi.... shipping was $12.24 (no huge tariff charged or disguised as shipping)

The company making the interface claims it will work without any programming changes to the vehicle. (Navicks - Brooklyn, NY)

šŸ¤£šŸ˜Ž

guess you’ll have to decide….. but naively optimistic should be a choice.

I’ll certainly keep the community posted.

Maybe I’ll take a few pictures as I work through the install.

(just saw the Sync3 to Sync4 upgrade kit 😳)

I've looked into this and have reached out to Naviks about how it works. This was the response:

" Hi, to access the front camera view in the Maverick you will need to press the "menu" button on the steering wheel for 8 seconds. You can also view the front camera automatically when you switch from reverse to drive the camera will be displayed for 8 seconds, this function can be disabled. "

I'm going to be following this cause this is on my list of things to do.

That's similar to what Camera Source is telling me, although they say to press the power button on the display for 7 seconds to activate or deactivate the camera. They also say that the front camera will switch on for 7 seconds after switching out of reverse (I assume that is only if you switch into drive and not park).

I will be traveling for the month of Aug and probably won't get to this until I return in Sep. I will update this topic when the install is complete.

I did mention the possibility of upgrading to Sync4 and after checking with Camera Source this kit will not work with Sync4 and they don't have one that will. I am going to proceed with adding the front camera to Sync3 and leave it at that.
