Forscan Cable Help Needed

Today I finally wired up my paddle shifters after having the steering wheel in the truck for 2 years. LOL. I purchased the cable in the attached pic some time ago and attempted to use it for the first time today. The problem is that the cable came with a CD ROM with the software on it and I no longer own a computer with a CD drive. I attempted to dowload the driver for the cable from the Forscan site, but it would not fully install. I've been unable to find the driver elsewhere.

Is there somewhere I can download the driver or should I get a new cable? If a new cable is the answer, which one should I get?

The good news is that the paddle shifters work, I just can't see what gear I'm in until I make some changes with Forscan.

I don't remember having to load any drivers, but if I did, they were from the web since I don't have a CD-ROM either. I am using the OBDLink-EX cable as recommended by Forscan.org. There is a discount code floating around the forum that still worked last time someone checked. The discount doesn't get it to $12, but it drops it significantly from the $70 list price.

I did a search for Elm327 USB driver and a few different sites had a driver. You can also contact forscan support and see if they can help.

I had the same problem getting my HP laptop, running Win 11, to recognize my USB adapter. I searched and found the driver using Google. It's CH340. You must have your adapter plugged into your computer before installing it.

I also use the OBDLink EX USB adapter but the Forscan support page does have a link for the ELM327 USB drivers.

Thanks for the replies! I got the cable to work, but I can only connect to the PCM and BCM. I tried flipping the switch, but it had no effect. Time for a cable upgrade!

That cable is outdated and no longer supported by FORScan. You would need the VGate VLinker or the OBDLink EX. The VLinker costs half what the OBDLink cable costs and works just fine.

New cable was delivered; no more issues. I now have the ST splash screen, Ford Performance speedo, and gear indicator. Can't wait to try more mods. Thanks guys!

Interestingly, my paddle shifters worked without any Forscan changes once I wired them up (I have a 2024).
