I don't suppose Ford is going to do anything for those of us who will be taking delivery of "new" 2022 trucks in 2023, long after many thousands of customers have driven off the lots with their new 2023s...
Well Ford doesn't have to do anything for me. My truck finally showed up today. My dealer called me about 1:30 this afternoon and I picked it up at 5pm.
Hoping that you get the happy phone call soon too.

Agree 100%. But reality (today) is that the dealer is the customer and Ford corporate does not have a retail customer centric mentality. I've spent 40 plus years in retail and I know what it takes to make retail customers happy, Ford doesn't. And has no experience or expertise in doing it. I certainly hope that changes. I like cars. I like new cars. I hate car salespeople. Our current vehicles are 2014 and 2017. I am 100% positive I would have bought new ones before now except for the agony of going through the sales process at a dealer.

@Ford if you are listening, this has to change. The dealer purchase experience is awful and is costing you sales. I would do almost anything not to have to go to a dealer that I know is going to try and take advantage of me.
In 100% agreement. I ordered a Maverick 3 weeks after they went into production. I went to 4 Ford Dealerships locally to order a Maverick...not a single salesman knew anything about a Maverick and tried to push me into buying a Ranger or F150...Found a dealer 799 miles away that would take my order at MSRP and went there 6 months later and drove it 799 miles home. Great Truck...most Ford dealers are a disservice to the customer.

Glad we are in agreement!!!!

One of my employees (and friend) lives in Kyiv, Ukraine. He wakes up to air raid alerts 3-4 times a week. They have no electricity for 8-24 hours at a time. He does army reserve service every weekend.

Not once has he ever complained to me.

Now, what were you whining about?

You are right. But trust me, if/when yours is built and it finally gets THAT CLOSE, you will experience and understand a whole new level of eagerness and frustration. As I told my dealer, I feel I have been relatively patient through this entire process. But now that the truck is sitting there two hours away, it is suddenly very real, and that also makes it quite maddening.

It's all relative. I'm definitely blessed to be able to live in America and can afford a new vehicle.

There are many different systems in play here, all of which are varying degrees of "FUBAR". Ford is just one of many culprits. Sounds like this last one is the convoluted and back logged shipping issues further compounded by strikes and likely weather. Sorry for your frustration.
Yup. Lots of blame to go around. From our poor infrastructure to adopting manufacturing technologies that don't work in this country. Just hope I get my Maverick soon.

Seriously, I have thought about that. I think I am going to be afraid to drive this thing when I finally get it. If I get in a crash, it may take months to get replacement parts!
Yeah, I was thinking about that. But, I haven't been in a crash for a long time (one of the benefits of getting older?) and when I retire I'm getting out of Chicagoland to where it's less of a rat race.

While I agree there is are plenty of things with Ford's process that could use some improvement, I would think they would have the least control over the shipping process.

...I don't see how Ford, or any other car company could improve the shipping without bringing that in house. Shipping in general is a nightmare and has been for several years, not just cars but all manner of goods.
Agree. My truck sat in a railyard 30 miles from my dealership for 4 weeks. I didn't like it but of all the factors contributing to the wait, it was the one for which Ford deserved the least blame.

I agree the whole process is very poorly done. Now the OP essentially is getting a new truck that is last years model. Now if he plans to die with his truck it doesn't matter BUT most will eventually want to sell it. Now its a year older than it really is. .it will have a lower resale value than a 2023.

Now what Ford did for the 2023 orders again was rather sucky. They let way to many Hybrid orders to be placed. more than double. Why no auto cut off is insane in today's computer world. What are they writing down orders on pieces of paper. Come on Ford do better.

Quick rant: Placed my Maverick order and gave a $500 deposit on Jan. 25, 2022. You can see additional details in my signature.

Basically zero communication from dealer after than unless I initiated, but I kept track of the order scheduling process through @fordvideoguy. Thank God for Tim!

As a result of Tim's videos, I asked my dealer to move me from Priority 19 to Priority 10 last summer, which he did. Miraculously, I received a VIN for my truck in late August just before scheduling was cut off for the 2022 model year. Like most people, I went through the "build week shuffle" with multiple re-schedulings until mid-November when my truck was finally built -- I think with about a week of model year 2022 production remaining -- and shipped out.

It took about 2.5 weeks to get from the factory in Mexico to the final rail depot in Wilmington, DE, where it has now been sitting for the past week. My dealer initially told me he would request a "hot tag" for my truck to expedite delivery. However, it continues to sit in Wilmington without even a scheduled ETA for arrival. Today, I checked with the dealer again and he basically told me, there is a shortage of truck drivers and it will get there when it gets there.

So, with my wait at 323 days and counting, I now have a fully built 2022 Maverick sitting in a lot in Delaware and apparently there isn't a darn thing I or anyone else can do about it. It could show up tomorrow. It could show up in mid-January, likely after thousands of others folks have taken delivery of their 2023 Mavericks.

So, bottom line, Ford's entire process -- from placing your Maverick order to finally taking delivery -- is FUBAR. If Ford hired a team of "experts" to complicate and prolong this process, I am not sure they could make the process of obtaining one of these unicorns any more cumbersome or drawn out than it already is.

Don't get me wrong; I am REALLY excited about the truck, and I sure as heck will not be walking away at this point. However, I swear I will NEVER sign up for another vehicle buying process like this again. Hands down, the worst shopping experience of my life.
you should try working for the fed govt sometimes...yeeshh

Sorry, not much sympathy here. October 2021 order still waiting.
Amen. Me too. XL Hybrid. Priority 2 rollover order. I’m insulted ANY new 23 models are being delivered before me.

I ordered my in Oct 21 and last I heard, it was scheduled for building in later part of November to be shipped around Dec 1. Fubar might just be the best word to describe what is happening. I recall the good old days, when I could go into a dealership, buy a truck, and drive out the same day. Of course, I realize that with so many options, all new trucks are build to personal specifications that fit no one else but me..
