That's great to know. I was reading up on it the other night and they give the distinct impression (no doubt deliberately) that the wifi service was mandatory.

I have not payed for the cellular service. they do give it to you for 3Mos free (no activation or account required) and I have not done anything beyond that but have still received my points.

They ARE hounding me to get a CC though, not interested. its not as good of a deal as my Southwest RR credit card! My wife has flown FREE as my companion for the last two years, and we are set to hit that status for next year too.

Yeah ya gotta go with the best deal. Gonna see if I can make the fordpoints thing work.

If not, sayonara baby! I have no loyalty to any CC provider if they don't do anything for me.

Newer Ford vehicles have a built in modem to allow you to use the vehicle for WiFi access. They give a 30 day free trial after which its costs $20 per month for unlimited data acess which is through AT&Thief.

And that is why I call them AT&Thief. I had DirecTV also until AT&Thief bought them and immediately raised the rates. I dumped DirecTV and then changed my cell phone provider but unfortunately can't do anything about the vehicle modem since Ford locked it to AT&Thief. If they raise the rate that I'm paying for that, it will go also.

I read that if you don't have them within 30 days to contact FordPass, so that sounds about right.
