Oh theres lots of bearings lol your quote was ‘THE MAIN BEARING” lol very different. Anyways. Do you. Dont let me tell you youre not a mechanic
Ok you win I know nothing about engines over bearing vs bearings. Sir, could you look at a break down on a automobile engine?

Read your last couple comments and started wondering if you had even half a clue.
Now I know. You don't.

Knocking or Shaking could be caused by any number of things: bad fuel, bad spark plug, wire or cap, broken motor mount, clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, carbon build up in head. Even DTs.
Thank you lol ive been trying to tell him this lol his comments sound like the script of a star trek movie. “Main bearing failure captain!” Lol just use engine part names and itll be somewhat believable. Anywho. We gotta stop wasting time on this guy. He wants to think he knows more about engines than ford’s engineers and mechanics. All the power to him.

 Okay, boss. Anytime someone tries to tamp down the FUD peddled by the "sky is falling" brigade y'all come back with this BS. At least most of the time your compadres can actually follow the thread of the story. You're out here screaming about "bad parts" when there's no evidence of "bad parts" in the maverick (the 25 cranks you're referencing were found, isolated, and recalled in Ford Escapes). But go off king, or take my original advice and log TF off.
I only know what half the acronyms mean in this comment but i think I understand enough to agree 😂sucks being old sometimes

You should sell your Mav and find that perfect car that never has a recall, or problem, or never needs to go back to the dealer for any reason. We are driving around computers with wheels now, there will always be issues and updates and recalls. If you can't handle the stress of having a car that may or may not have an issue one day, walk.
I have a 21 gear bicycle thats never had a recall. Perhaps ill mail it to the OP so he can finally have a reliable vehicle 🙃🫣

Please tell us oh wise one what is the attachment points that holds the crankshaft into the engine block. I've assembled numerous engines & I have never heard a mechanic & parts counter person call the bearings in reciprocating parts called anything but main bearings & rod bearings. Please show me I'm wrong, not your bs your not a mechanic, well order some parts & show us all your brilliance.

Now to address the real issue. Ford has openly stated the crankshaft in said Maverick hybrids had a machining problem. Are you silly enough to think Ford came up with this band aid because the engine can't fail? Funny my escape had a 2.5 engine & Ford didn't think they better drill holes in case that engine could fail. Keep whistling in the dark. Tell yourself nothing to see here. Remember my post when yours starts knocking. Oil pressure light comes on & a rod comes through the pan. Personally I'll be hoping it fails under warranty & I'm close to home or have phone service.

Show me where Ford said that.

Careful, I heard that someone fell off a bicycle 2 years ago, there may be a bicycle class-action law suit.........

The recall is to remedy a lack of ventilation and drainage in the engine bay. That's it. Given the worst case scenario of a catastrophic engine failure with oil, fuel, and vapors being confined in such a small area near a heat source a fire could start, putting the occupants at risk. If the engineers in charge of designing the parts being altered by the recall had foreseen this problem it would have been designed with the alterations from the factory. If this had happened, and no recall was issued, would you still be angry about a crankshaft defect belonging to a different model (and possibly a different plant) than the one you own?
wow, almost like a pre-emptive step to make an improvement BEFORE there is an actual problem ;)

Finding out my hybrid xlt is on the list is more troubling than most feel it is. I step out in faith & order a vehicle sight unseen. wait 9 months to see it. Now I have 2700 miles of blissful driving only to now be told, everything you drive your new vehicle might throw a rod through the oil pan, or it may not run due to substandard solder joints etc. Trace the bad cranks & put a new engine in, or at least put on paper Ford will replace any 2.5 hybrid engine with a crankshaft issue for a period of 10 years , or 125k miles. It makes me sick to own a new vehicle that I love yet can't trust. Ford's fix doesn't offer confidence either. I'll be in a conversation with my dealer about ordering a my 23 mav if my trade will be fair. Some foreman knew these cranks were out of spec & said ship em anyway.
You never had a vehicle with a recall? Every vehicle I have owned had a recall (volvo S60, Honda civic, Rav4 etc). While in a perfect world vehicles would come out of the factory perfect... this is not a perfect world. Whats more, this is a first model year.

You realize that if you never got on the forums, you would still be blissfully enjoying your Maverick? So what has changed? If it needs to be fixed, thats what the warranty is for.

How's this?

That says "a report by Ford" then cites a CNBC article that makes an unsourced claim that it's the crank. I've still not seen Ford say there's any ongoing issue with the crank manufacturing.

The Lawyers will not allow any company to admit responsibility on any issue that could possibly go to litigation.

So, because they can't speak of it, it must be true? Again, there's no evidence of bad cranks in the Maverick, and remember they admitted to bad cranks in the Escape. What makes that different?
