The Bronco is just an iteration of the early, boxy Escape. These boxy Escapes had a great design, but poor gas mileage. I loved my boxy Escape, even though it got 16 mpg on a good day.

The latest design of the Escape is just crap unfortunately. Too small a vehicle. Ford could have produced an SUV to compete with the Rav4.
The Escape is the perfect size for a LOT of people who have older houses with small garages. Bigger is not always better.

BEV not in the horizon for me. I'll go back to my carbureted, point distributor cars.
Im planning on both actually. Im in process of carbureting my work trucks, but my old rusted away offroad van and CJ will be getting new life as buggy chassis. Problem is they both dont have a motor(one yanked and one burned). I am seriously considering going full electric on em. Since their range will only need to be less than 100 miles anyways.

For now I will enjoy my awesome XLTremor!

The Escape is made at a different plant. The Bronco sport and Maverick are made in the same plant.

I don't think this will change anything for the Maverick.

I had a 2011 Mariner that was a pretty decent vehicle (yes, it had wheel well rust forming)...I regret letting that one go. 240hp out of that NA 3.0L, with okay mileage. Good cruiser, comfortable, good looking design.
I agree, we have a 2010 Mariner v6 with the Voga pkg. Bought it used with 60k miles for my daughter’s first vehicle. It’s still running great at 156k. We have maintained it according to guidelines and it still runs perfectly. It’s been a great vehicle throughout the years. Fortunately we have only had minor wheel well and tailgate rust. She has since taken my company vehicle I bought out (Chevy Equinox) and the Mariner will go up for sale soon when our Maverick is confirmed built (9/25 production date).

Back in 2012, I bought my son a 2006 escape hybrid. He had 293,000 miles on it before trading it in.

What I find ironic is when I opened the hood of both the 2022 PHEV Escape and the 2023 Maverick hybrid, they both look just like the 2006 Escape hybrid. I think it’s a pretty good testament on a properly designed drive train.

While the Escape may go BEV, odds favor the Bronco Sport will have a gas option, and they share the same C2 platform. Probably safe to say that a gas/hybrid Maverick option will remain with the Bronco Sport. - The Bronco Sport may actually be outselling the Escape these days, the rough and tumble appearance is appealing, not to mention the squared off cabin is more useable than the rounded Escape.

Wouldn't put it past Ford to offer both BEV and Hybrid Maverick options in 25/26, just saying. Unless battery tech takes a quantum leap, most commercial buyers aren't going BEV that soon.
