I am looking to trade my 2025 xlt fwd with power options for a 2026 lariat awd with sunroof and read window package. Dont think it has the full size tire. Anyway, the MSRP is 41395. The A plan discount is 2107 I believe because that is what another nearby dealer offered and the next dealer matched it.
BUT, since they are pushing the you pay what we pay thing, the true A plan calls for a 150 cap on doc fees, they said it went up from 75. They are telling me since I am not a “true” ford employee that i must pay 349. I told them that is NOT what the A plan calls for And it needs to be 150 (75 is even better if that is what it really is.)
Also am I to assume that there is still dealer holdback and advertising monies that they can still tap into?
The offer so far is 28000 for my immaculate truck with 7800 miles on it. In Ohio I pay tax on the difference between the trade in and the total cost. I am thinking that other places have posted 4000+ in discounts and I am holding out for more trade in vs more discount since every 1000 dollars extra in trade saves me 75 in tax, and I hate how Ohio spends our tax dollars in most cases.
what might be a typical dealer contribution to a deal like this? Im guessing there is still 1000-1500 more to be found and they will still make money on this deal.

No where do I see them refer to "A-Plan" in any of the promotions, only calling it employee pricing. As a result, I think trying to get the $150 doc fee cap is a reach, but if you can reach an overall number you're happy with, who cares?

And yes, I've used A/Z-plan for 40+ years.

Yes A/Z/X plan says that

I had a run around with another dealer once before about that…they definitely try to get around it

This one also has the $115 conv spare tire, but your $2107 number is correct.

I agree. I once walked on a deal because the dealer's doc fee was $700 and "not negotiable". A week later they called me back and said they could reduce the vehicle price by $700 but the doc fee had to stay.

Most dealers are crooks
So don't buy from them. Simple. No one held a gun to your head to buy from the dealer. That would be a crook. Or if they took you captive and refused to release you until you buy their vehicle. That would be a crook. NOT agreeing to your terms is business. Luckily for now you are free to take your business elsewhere. I have many times if I didn't like the dealership.

Would think current dealer hunger for sales and local market interest will drive their bottom dollar. Just like the OP, dealers can always continue fishing for the better catch..... like someone aleady posted, its just business.

You may also have an additional targeted offer rebate for $750 in your name they can look up since you are already a Ford customer. I got that added on to the employee pricing discount when I bought my 2026 XL about 3 weeks ago. Sometimes they are in the Ford account portal if you have one.

This promo doesn't limit dealer doc fees.
