Just curious if anyone was using those foam baffles to keep water and dirt off the woofers in the doors. I ordered a set of the 6.5” shallow depth ones but not sure if there are clearance issues (truck hasn’t arrived yet).

If the foam baffles you are talking about completely enclose the speaker, expect your speakers to sound choked off and compressed.

Correct. I had xtc and boom mats in another vehicle and they absolutely kill the output. However, I saw someone talk about cutting out most of the rear, so it's like a shelf to keep water from coming down directly into the speaker basket, but still open to allow the speaker to play normally.

Got it. I think a minute or two with a utility knife will allow me to open the bottom half of the baffle while keeping some protection for the woofer.

I think this will offer some protection without affecting sound.

We had those foam cups in the 80’s when doors leaked like crazy. They do cut off the low end quite a bit. One tip we used at my stereo store was to scotchguard the speakers before putting them in the doors. Most cones were paper at the time and it worked very well for almost no cost. We also had rain guards that were half cover plastic, but rarely used them.
