Mine isn't broken but I can tell it's horribly designed and will eventually break. I don't know why they didn't just go with the typical Toyota/Honda sunglasses holder design that has a smooth press and then it slowly comes down.
That’s just how mine works 🤷‍♂️

It should be a warranty issue and a simple repair.
I also think you 100% correct-
Bend the male tab a little and gently. If you break it, I’m sure you’d be S.O.L.

Let the dealer do it. It should be free.

The only silver-lining to the airbag recall disaster that kept my truck at the dealership for 5 weeks is they got mine working after replacing the greasy headliner. The notes indicated that the headliner fabric was "in the gears". They may help someone endeavoring a DIY solution to take a look-see.

I’m going to the dealership Monday to have it looked at. I’m guessing they will just superglue the damn thing in place. Hopefully they can fix my door rattle too.
I don’t think they will super glue it. They have no idea where to buy the glue. They will replace it under warranty.

Ford fixed my sunglass holder permanantly on Oct 21, 2021.

Did they happen to list a part number? I went to my local Ford dealership and I was told my Maverick did not have one, sunglasses holder, because they could not find a part number for it. The little black clip that the door pushes into popped out and is somewhere in the floorboard somewhere.

Has anyone found a fix for their broken sunglass holder release? Mine opens on its own over 45 degrees F. The little release mech comes out with the door. I will post a video. Did this from new and thought it was a fluke since it hasn't done it for a month. Now its warm out and it won't stay in.

I had this same problem and when the sunglasses hold fell down I lost the little keeper and when I took my truck to my dealer for the side curtain air bags to be replaced under warranty they replaced the entire sunglass holder/light assy under warranty, too.

i googled a mopar part # 68038755AA i found in another thread and ended up ordering qty. of 4 off of ebay, shipping from china.....
total cost $3.45
if i ever get them (in a month or so) i'll report back.
FYI, i received 4 pieces from china well within their shipping estimate and the first one i installed worked perfectly and my sunglass holder is shut for the first time in 1 1/2 years.
and now i have 3 spares. happy with the purchase.

I have a 23 Lariat with Luxury package and I have no overhead sunglass holder. Can you clarify what year and model you own, please?

You probably have a sunroof.

Ahhh, yes, you are right! Thanks!

I am missing the sunglass holder, but not enough to give up the sunroof. Thanks again!
