It looks like your "sounds" are coming from the passenger side? My sound which is more of a jittering sound than a rattle are straight ahead on the driver's side. So, inspired by your straws, I used a piece of foam and stuffed it between the dash cover and windshield. It solved the problem 95% but if the pavement is washboard, there is still some noise. My theory is the noise is the dash cover vibrating against the defrost duct that connects to the underside of the defrost outlet just below the windshield. I'm going to stuff something into the holes in the duct to see if I can cushion the duct. I am scrounging for medium density foam from packing material. I doubt I can get my fingers into that area from under the dash so I am focused on trying from above.I finally isolated my dash rattle and fixed it, without tools in less than 1 minute. And it cost absolutely nothing!
Now that I know how to do it, I'm going to get more straws.
Really though, it will inform now where I put extra foam pieces between the dash and the windshield to create a little bit of a binding effect.

Have numerous annoying rattles even on smooth roads....Seriously thinking of trading in on a Honda Or toyota ...who cares about MPG . Retiring soon so not an issue... Insurance is also high on hybrid...Higher than my 2018 mustang convertible....I finally isolated my dash rattle and fixed it, without tools in less than 1 minute. And it cost absolutely nothing!
