Finally caught this little guy

Personally I would just take it to a self wash place, pop the hood and pressure wash it. Most of them have a degreaser spray you can use. I open the hood on my Maverick once a week during the winter to pressure wash any road salt that got up into that area, I have done this with my other cars for years without ill effect. I usually use the spray soap and rinse out with high pressure water.

Another one ..

Wow, what a coincidence all this rodent talk! I had a pest tech install a couple traps in my attic and one in the crawl space above the garage after we discovered a critter had been eating gum and passenger seat foam in my wife’s Hyundai Tucson while parked in the garage.

Not sure why he didn’t put a trap IN the garage itself, so I stopped by good old Home Depot and picked up a few cheap $2.27 traps, and within just 10 minutes laying down a couple…

For the time being I’ll be assuming there could be more, so will monitor…

I guess I was lucky with the mouse that got into my glove compartment. All it did was chew the paper wrap on the straws that were in there. Although it did expire somewhere in the truck. Suggestion on trying to keep critt like from getting in your truck. I sprayed peppermint spray around the truck especially around the engine compartment.

Rats are tricky buggers.

One tip that often works... they are afraid of anything new and take some time to warm up to new things, so putting a new trap out with bait on it for a few days/week *without* setting it gets them used to it. Then randomly one day - WHAM! - surprise, you're dead.

Well worth the few bits of free bait they get while building a false sense of security...

Now... How do I clean up the mess? I vacuum most of the poop and food. Before I go buy meguire APC or degreaser. Just making sure it's the right way so I don't do any electronic damages. So spray it on the engine bay then brush and use a rag to clean off the urine? It peed on some screws so I want to make sure I don't have rusted bolts again which happened on my last vehicle.

I would just blow everything off with an air compressor myself. I'm hesitant to put anything outside of dialectic grease on electronics being a former Brit bike guy.

friend lives down in oJai and he says if you leave your car parked more than a day out on the street the rats move in. they're especially aggressive since they've been driven down into town by all the wildfires in their usual habitat

meantime here's one caught by our kat bodie. y'all decide: big mouse or small rat? frame of reference: that's a leaf of standard 8.5 by 11-inch typing paper. what bodie doesn't finish off we leave out in the yard like this for our raptor friends

I deal with field mice, so that’s pretty big and the tail is thick. I say impoverished rat from the south side.
