I have finally got Cruise working on my XL. I'm not positive that you absolutely have to have both of the IPC inputs, however, I have working cruise, so I haven't dug into it too far. If anyone wants to challenge it, feel free to post the results!

Well, this sounds like it's going to get expensive 😂 but I'm gonna try it. Anything to piss off the Maverick Facebook police
First up: you’re doing the Lords work here. Great job!

Those Maverick Facebook groups…. I swear they must be run by dealers who are salty whenever anyone complains about them asking over sticker or doing mods to bring XLT features to an XL. It’s a toxic place. They are armchair economists who think they know how the “marketplace” works.

PS. Now if you can post a factory push start mod.... I will literally change my Lariat LUX order and switch it to an XL
Shhhh... Ford reps watching this are probably having a meeting now about how to cripple this upgrade "hack".

Say something like "The only Maverick I was interested in was the XL, but the no-cruise was a deal breaker. Now I'm going to order a Maverick after all, finance through Ford, and buy the extended warranty!." :D

How much would a guy spend to do this?
The cost isn't important. That would be like comparing the cost of a pheasant hunting trip to the cost of chicken in the grocery store.

I paid 107 for my wheel, 40 for the cable, and 10 for forscan, other than that, it's just been a few nights of squishing numbers trying to figure this out, had a couple guys who helped me a ton from the FB pages.

I'm pretty sure the proximity key is exclusive to the Lariat, which you would need to get push button start working correctly.
You can probably pick up proximity keys pretty cheap on ebay. Ive done that before with other cars

I wonder if it would be possible to just put Cruise switches in the original wheel? Would switches for the escape be the same?

If someone is looking to save money by getting the XL and adding cruise control, then the cost matters. In that case it's more like buying a live chicken butchering it rather than buying the chicken at the store.

Adaptive cruise requires extra hardware for proximity sensing that is not installed on any trim except Lariat Lux package.

Regular cruise control is just software (and control buttons mapped correctly like OP’s magnificent work with the alternate steering wheel).
First I want to say AWESOME JOB with this hack! I wonder what hardware beyond what is available on the lower trim levels really is required for adaptive cruise. It is my understanding that all models have automatic emergency braking which requires similar (if not identical) proximity sensing.

Another example of Ford's needless segmentation between trim levels. Obviously CC could just be an option on the XL. smh

Agreed that it definitely could be added as an option, but doing so would increase the base price (or a HUGE margin on the option) because of the losses on margins of the XLT upgrades.

You are correct that all models include a camera mounted in front of the rear view mirror, this is used for Pre-Collision Assist (and also with Lane Sensing feature if you upgrade to CoPilot 360).

However, the adaptive cruise includes an extra radar component in the grill area. Possibly to have an extended range of effectiveness compared to the camera component so you can sustain a relatively longer adaptive distance between a vehicle in front of you while cruising.

Anyone finding a price for a 2020+ Ford Escape wheel w/ cruise and leather? I can't find it, and my search results just pull up aftermarket accessories for the Escape wheel like this (on sale if anyone is interested):
