2022 Area 51 Hybrid with 20, 000. I developed two oil leaks a $2200 repair if out of warranty. So I bought a Premium plan from Ziegler ford in Michigan for one third the cost from my Local dealer .
Our valve covers and timing covers are installed with RTV silicone only. This is what the auto industry is doing now not just ford.

Cork gaskets went away a very long time ago. I'm going to wait for my 3/36 warranty to expire before buying an ESP.

Thinking of the same. What plan did you purchase and what was the cost? And, do you have a contact at Ziegler? Thanks.
$ 1230 6 yr 1000,000 with $100 deductible. That includes a $70 upgrade for any bulbs . It is important I think to get this while you are still under the factory warranty.

Yes on the contract . Warranty is tracked by VIN so good at any ford dealer

Bsperty is making a great suggestion, and I will add : make sure you are buying a genuine FORD extended service plan and NOT an outside company warranty. As a technician I have seen many different warranties throughout my years, and although Ford esp is only honored at a Ford dealership( unless certain circumstances arise), it is the best coverage and easiest to get approval for . Many outside warranty companies will not cover any fluids, one time use hardware pieces, or related damage that may have been incurred by a failed component. With Ford those items are covered, and the dealership only has to submit the base part of the failed item to Ford to check and verify coverage and the repair can start right away( higher price repairs take a little more time-up to a couple hours for approval). Outside warranties many times want to send out an inspector to verify the repair necessity, which can take time(days), and many will ask for maintenance records before approving a repair ( I've even seen them ask for oil change records for repairs unrelated to engine oil-such as HVAC repairs) and if maintenance records can't be provided they can deny the claim. In other cases I have also seen outside warranty locate a salvage yard component for repair rather than a new part or Ford genuine remanufactured part.

I double checked the workshop manual just in case something has changed, but the valve cover does still use a silicone gasket around its perimeter and also individual ones around the spark plug holes and cam timing solenoid. RTV is only used at the point where the engine block and front(timing) cover meet to help seal any minor gap created where the 2 meet. The timing cover is sealed 100% by RTV around its perimeter and they have been for many years, and in turn they have leaked for many years. With the DPS6 transmission fiasco of recalls in Focus cars since 2013, pretty much everytime they are in for a clutch replacement they are in need of a front cover reseal also.

And stay away from CarShield.

Call Laura at Ziegler. That's who helped me. I actually called there to make sure this was legit . It sounded to good to be true.

Been thinking about getting one. Was going to purchase when I got my price protection check. But other things came up. Had a bunch of really large ash trees that had to be cut do to a pest. Heard a headlight on a Mav is like $1500. Dealer did try and sell me one but it was not a Ford Esp it was the dealers own. Will have to try and save.
