Exposed seat belt cable?

Waited 6 months for delivery and I’ve had my 2024 XLT for six days now, when I was getting out today I almost cut my finger on the seatbelt ‘cable’ - driver side. I looked on the passenger side and there is a plastic covering that goes all the way down but on the driver side it only goes halfway exposing two cables. I feel like this should be fixed at the dealer. Just curious if anyone else has seen this.​

I think mine is like that. Just got a 24 hybrid last week.
Also, look at your passenger side, if it's like mine the plastic clip piece has a soft felt on it. My driver side does not. It's odd

This is an inexpensive truck, doesn't surprise me at all. Personally, I appreciate finding things that show they've put thought into designing parts simply and cheaply in order to keep the purchase price low.

Dealer? Why? Just fix it yourself in less than a minute by winding some electrical tape around that area rather than wasting an hour or more sitting in the service department's waiting area.

I have the exact same problem on my XLT Lux. Like yours, the driver’s side seatbelt is bad, the passenger side is fine. My Mav was built late Jan 2024. I plan to take it in to the dealer for a repair in a few weeks. Waiting to see if anything else goes bad. So far the passenger seat lever to raise the seat, doesn’t work. Good luck.

Thanks Atlasmetmav, mine was also built 1/2024. Any chance you know a part number? I texted my salesman pics and asked about a fix and he said he would need to find out the part number - it's been a few days now and crickets since then.

GreyCacti, mine has the felt on both sides, it's a large piece that starts at the front of the seat, runs back and then has a flap that half covers where the cable comes out...

Thanks Atlasmetmav, mine was also built 1/2024. Any chance you know a part number? I texted my salesman pics and asked about a fix and he said he would need to find out the part number - it's been a few days now and crickets since then.

An obvious breakdown in the manufacturing process. I will be sending my picture to the dealership this week and will let you know if I found out anything .
I have a picture of mine, as noted before it looks just like yours. Unfortunately, no matter how small I reduce the file size of the pic, this forum app states that my attachment is too large. More to come.

Short update, I went to my service dept on 3-12-24 to show them the exposed seatbelt cable issue. The supv took pictures of my seatbelt and recorded all my info so that he can follow up on how to proceed. The service dept is just as stumped as we are. More too come.

I have the same exposed / missing cover seat belt anchor issue with my Maverick built in December 2023. I noticed it because my hand kept feeling greasy from routine getting in and out incidental touching of the anchor.

I emailed my purchase dealer, Chapman Ford North East Philadelphia (I live in North Texas) about this and they didn't respond to it. I'll bring it up at my local dealer the next time I take it in for service.

Yes, dealer installed the new one and problem is solved. I would still like to know how Ford installed an obvious faulty part and knew it.

Thanks for the update! Yes, it's concerning for a critical safety system part.

My ordered Maverick sat for 4 weeks at the factory after being built and came with almost 30 miles on the odometer. It may have been pulled for quality control. If so, they still missed this.

I asked my Dallas, TX area Ford dealer about fixing this in late 2024. They said a new replacement part looked the same as how my 2024 Maverick was built (rubber did not fully cover the cable), so did not do anything.
