EPS Motor/Controller Location and Noise

Where is the EPS motor and controller located? I need to do some soundproofing.

Unfortunately I have very sensitive hearing and the power steering in all Mavericks (Ecoboost, hybrid, FWD/AWD) makes a high frequency whine (16,000-18,000HZ) that gives me a headache. I’ve test driven 5 different Mavericks and they all make the same whine when the steering is under load.

My options are a buyback from Ford, sell it 3rd party, or dampen the sound. My local dealer service center hasn’t offered any solutions.

I’d really like to find a solution myself as I really want to love the truck, but jeopardizing my wellbeing isn’t worth it.

Is this on the cab side of the firewall (under the dash), or in the engine bay?

That makes me feel better then, if I do any sound deadening I’ll be less concerned with excess heat from the engine bay. Maybe that’s why it’s so loud too for me too, it being in the cab and all.

Have you tried driving a used Maverick? I had a wine when it was new, but I don't hear it now. Could also be I've gotten desensitized.

I did, a 2022 hybrid lariat. Same sound.
