Anyone thinking of doing engine mods to your LOBO? What is on your list? Ultimate goal?
RU Concerned about warranty?

Cobb tried to tune a 2025 Lobo and were unsuccessful. They said the Lobo ecu is locked like the new Raptor, they can't get into it. At least not yet. So any mods that require a new tune will have to wait.

The 8F35 transmission is designed for engines with a maximum output of 350 N⋅m (260 lbf⋅ft)... so why bothered 🤔

Well that's a bummer. So much for a 300 hp Maverick.
Is the 8-speed trans more capable than the 7 in the LOBO?

I wouldn't worry about the transmission TQ capacity. The Lobo 7 speed is the same as the trans in the now discontinued Edge ST which has a twin turbo V6 with 335 HP & 380 lb-ft TQ.
I have a 2020 Edge ST and it hasn't broken the tranny yet.

For reference: 2025 Ford Maverick Transmissions: Everything You Need To Know
And: 2021 Ford Edge ST Gains ‘New’ 7-Speed Automatic Transmission: Exclusive
Seems the Lobo’s transmission is underrated in the TQ department. Based on your Edge, the Lobo could probably handle 400 lb-ft assuming the Edge was not on the hairy edge of blowing up:)

I think Ford Authority is wrong about the Edge ST tranny being the same. I've found other references that the Edge ST uses the 8F57 trans. Part K2GZ-7000-A.

The standard Edge 2.0L models use the 8F35, Part K2GZ-7000-C.

I have the 2025 Ford Maverick FSM. All the references in FSM are to the 8F35, including the 7 speed operation:
"307-01B Automatic Transmission - 8-Speed Automatic Transmission – 8F35 Maverick
Diagnosis and Testing
At times the 8-speed transmission may skip gears when the vehicle starts from a complete stop. This is normal and desired behavior. This transmission may also be described as a 7-speed transmission. For the 7-speed applications, 2nd gear is not utilized.

At part pedal when acceleration is brisk, single step upshifts would result in very frequent shift events (very short time in gear). Double step upshifts results when a longer time is spent in gear.

However, at light pedal or road load, single step upshifts will occur. The small 8-speed gear steps allow the engine speed to drop to lower values than it would in the 6-speed transmission; providing for the best fuel economy. In contrast, when the 8-speed transmission is at heavy or max pedal, the small steps keep the engine closer to the horsepower peak for best performance.

Downshift Gear Sequence

At times the 8-speed transmission may skip gears when the vehicle downshifts to a complete stop. This is normal and desired behavior. This transmission may also be described as a 7-speed transmission. For the 7-speed applications, 2nd gear is not utilized.

The same skip shift strategy that is used for the upshift may be applied during downshift."

So I agree with the above folks about modding for too much power. I expect the PCM would probably limit the requested TQ to stay in safe limits anyway.

I remain hopeful for some sort of piggy-back type of setup for the 2025...
But i'm not holding my breath. But hope some day to improve performance a bit.
I know the Auto trans is the weak link.
Yet another reason for a 6 MT.

I think the 2.0L EB would be a ripper at ~300/300 or so in the Mav.
Especially if you could apply that torque to 4 wheels.

I suspect even if you have to limit Peak torque target, you would and could still experience drive ability and responsiveness gains, especially on Ethanol mixes where you can advance timing quite a lot. Maybe even E85 with the DI+PI setup? (I'm not sure what flow rate the stock components are capable of.)

Maybe apply a large amount of torque over a longer duration, instead of a 'punchy, peaky' spike like the stock tune may do.
Maybe some transmission tuning to get the Auto trans to be less dumb; Faster, firmer, more responsive? -- may be delving into reliability issues there..

The weak link is always the Auto trans.
Bring the 6 MT option to the Mav already. (copy/paste from Focus RS and Win)
The Mav Lobo should have been a proper ST/RS build..with all their marketing towards a 'performance' street pickup, for the autox track.

I've also heard people say that the Euro Ford Focus ST uses the same 7 speed Auto as the Lobo.
And that 2.3L Focus ST has a higher output .

" The 2.3-litre turbo engine offers a meaty 276bhp and 310lb ft of torque to lean on. You want the standard six-speed manual gearbox, not the seven-speed auto option (which has to make do with a mere 306lb ft). "

Looks like its capable of holding ~306 lb-ft in the 2025 FoST.

But I'll stand by and wait until more testing happens.

per Ford website 2.0 EB MPC:

ecoboost2.webp
Interesting so the 2025 2.0 EB MPC Engine is rated 280 lb.ft of Torque in the Mavericks where the 2022-2024 2.0 EB in the Mavericks were rated at 277 lb.ft of Torque and both are rated at 250 Horsepower and Horsepower and Torque are rated on 91 octane,Thanks
