Would it be beneficial to use a complete fuel system cleaner such as Red Line for my 2024 Hybrid. My friend who's an ASE mechanic for over 20 years highly recommend this stuff but other information I'm seeing says that hybrids don't need this type of treatment. I'd like to get a general consensus on whether or not this would be a good thing for my Maverick.

It's not a bad thing. However, if you use top tier fuels, they contain polyetheramine (PEA) additive and you don't really require additional PEA cleaner such as Techron or Redline.

I don't understand why your friend would say a hybrid in particular doesn't need fuel cleaning additives. It has multiport fuel injection and intake valves that need to stay clean just like any other engine. It would be more beneficial to your hybrid than a direct-injected engine such as the 2022-24 2.0 Ecoboost.

Just fill with top tier and you really don't need it at all.

I haven't been a mechanic for many years, however while I was a practicing professional mechanic I found that the vast majority of these aftermarket treatments at best did nothing! If you used top quality oils and fuels you got these benefits with these products. If you bought cheaper stuff and added additives you didn't save any money and could never be sure that they worked, or that they were not just Snake Oil.

Recently some previously trusted manufacturers, Toyota and Chev, have released some suspect engines. I have more faith in Toyota getting to the bottom of this issue before GM does. Are there additives that will help this? I do not know. I suspect these are manufacturing problems that can not be "Fixed" with additives.

I found that Engineers pretty much know what they are doing, cost cutting measures often cause many of the problems that come up later. The fellow from "I Do Engines" took apart a Toyota engine that had been replaced under warranty. It was a mess! It did not look like any of the swarf had been cleaned after machining, NONE. That was not an Engineering failure or material failure it was a manufacturing failure and no additive or filtration after market treatment is going to solve that.

I did some reading on ‘top tier’ fuel a while back and there is documented benefits to using it.

I go out of my way to use fuel from gas stations that use top tier gasoline.

There is a Cennex a few miles from me that sells it and I buy 80% of my gas from them.

I think top tier gas does the same thing as an engine treatment without having to spend money on a treatment.
