I can remote start Steve Trucklet with the FordPass app but not with the keyfob. I searched the configs with FORScan but I don't see anything relevant to my task. Just curious why it starts with the app and not with the keyfob...

It has the remote start button but it doesn't start the car...I hope I don't have to spend the $200+ for the Perimeter Plus module...

Did you try pushing lock then pushing 2X twice?

That’s how I used to start my XLT.

No remote start from fob on my fully loaded Lariat, Ford Pass only

Hot dog, that worked! Never occurred to me to hit the Lock button first. Many thanks!

It's a puzzle to me that the Lariat doesn't have remote start on the fob...but then, Ford has puzzled many of us with what they do and don't offer on each of the trim levels (and don't get me started on the 'no auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink' situation!).

The "2x" on the hood opener means you need to pull it, let it go, and pull it a second time. ;)

I have 2 key fobs that look different than yours (basically the same without that remote start button). Im curious if I could install ford perimeter plus and change forscan settings if it would work or if I would also need a key fob that matches yours with that remote start button.

you can buy the perimeter system and use the XL/XLT keyfob (no 2x) with Lock>Unlock>Lock combination, no Lariat keyfob needed. I recommend not bothering with the extended antenna as that does not work with the standard keyfob

You can also just buy Start-X on Amazon. $100 and simple install for XL/XLT.
Start-X uses the standard XL/XLT keyfob that comes with the truck. You hit LOCK>UNLOCK>LOCK to start the truck. Set the HVAC controls to your desired settings at the end of the last drive. The truck will resume those HVAC settings upon remote start. For Hybrid, it will also start the gasoline engine, if needed for heat or for HV battery charging for A/C, after a few minutes.

I have two '23 lariats and these are the only Fords I have owned that do not have remote start (key fob). I do have a keypad which IMO is better than remote start with fob.

Perimeter system? Like an alarm system? I think I might have that…… gotta try the lock unlock lock method.

They raised the price to $120, but it is currently discounted to ~$108. I ordered the Perimeter + from Fairway for ~$190. I figure its worth it to get the better alarm + remote start which should qualify for a discount with my insurance. With all the catalytic converter theft going on, you just about have to have an alarm with a shock sensor.
