Has anybody figured how to enable the rear-view camera when moving forward? Would be helpful when the rear window is blocked with bed cover or tall loads.

I know Ford with a little software change can add a button to the touch screen to turn the camera on. The hardware is there, so it can be done and not cost $1000.

I believe the F150 has that option with tow packages.

Found something interesting while going through carwash today. While in carwash radio and satellite never work. Massive structure acts like Faraday cage and blocks all radio signals.

Washing done and go to exist slowly because blowers clear the water off truck. Now the interesting part, I placed the truck in drive and brake off, the rear-view screen comes on while going forward. Stays on until the truck moves about a third of the way out the exit and radio/audio screen comes back on with good reception.

Mysterious - Going on vacation and will see if I can a repeat when I get home.

Not true [anymore]. FORscan was only needed for the FMods Jailbreak procedure to time the SYNC3 reboot just right -- pressing and holding VOL/PWR+SeekForward will initiate a reboot as well.

a few days ago I jailbroke SYNC3 on on my new LariatLux following the FMods written instructions without resorting to FORScan for timing the reboot -- I had my left hand on the reboot buttons as I inserted the 1st USB stick with my right hand and hit the buttons maybe a heartbeat after the USB stick was mounted by the SYNC3 system. if you get that 1st step wrong, the 2nd USB stick will not work, so rinse and repeat the 1st USB stick procedure, no harm done. the Jailbreak procedure is super simple so long as you read and re-read the instructions and prep your USB drive just right for the two steps that follow. it's perfectly OK to reuse a single USB stick for each step so long as you wipe or reformat the USB drive clean between every step.

see the VidCam button right next to the Home button in the upper left of the screen? that enables the RearView Camera on Demand function.. 🤓

I also installed FMods to change the color scheme to Dark Grey, a Fancy Rotary mod and a Video Player mod.. the Video Player mod allows playing video files from a USB thumb drive on the SYNC3 screen..

and before anyone asks, that Grandpa Al Lewis cubby mod is one of a kind -- good luck finding one of those.. :p

took a ride in my truck with the Reverse Cam FMod turned on -- camera stops showing image at 10mph or so and after a bit a warning pops up that the camera is unavailable and to contact the dealer.. when I come to a full stop that warning disappears and the camera starts showing again.. putting the truck in Reverse then back in Drive disables the OnDemand view until the VidCam button is pressed again on the screen.

I figure there's gotta be a way to disable that "safety" feature (or bug?) and leave the camera operational regardless of forward speed 🤔 maybe using FORscan is required after all?

I am trying to think of why I would want the reverse camera to work when I am going forward??? If my back window is blocked, I have the side mirrors. The side mirrors also tell me that what I am towing is still there and how it is doing: Swerving? Bearings smoking? Crap flying out? Hold down strap loose? The only thing I can figure it would be good for is to see what I just ran over. Seems a little too late for that to be of much use..............

Your better off getting a smart mirror or video mirror. Autovox Tailgate Masters sell them where your mirror is a video screen fed by a camera outside your vehicle. So you have no restriction of view. Also if turned off they work just like a normal mirror.

saw a Motion Unlock For SYNC 3 & SYNC 4 Equipped Ford Vehicles harness on eBay which "unlocks" things that are blocked when the truck is moving.. e.g. entering a Nav destination while driving.. I have a strong hunch that adding this cable harness to a jailbroken SYNC3 would allow the reverse camera on demand mod to also keep working while moving forward..

I'm not interested in a harness addon mod -- tho I'm still wondering if it's possible to do the same with FORscan. 🤔
