I've searched for answers and am sitting in my garage with a drill plugged in. I cannot bring myself to drill a hole in my new Mav - even the underside of the hood. It appears the scrivet holes which hold the hood gasket on do not line up with the EGR bug shield. True? What is the fix besides creating holes in the underside of the hood that do line up? Thanks for your help.

you should be able to search other members that installed theirs? maybe you have an incorrect shield or could you possibly enlarge or drill the holes in the shield rather than the truck? I myself wouldn't drill holes just for the shield (just my opinion) but many other makers have shields to try better fitment.

Helpful. Thanks. Any advise about drilling through the delflector without cracking it?

I used a small Dremel bit to make a hole and also widen 2 other holes on the AVS II Bug Deflector.
Was not happy that the part did not fit and had to custom fit for the truck.
Still have it installed though, no issue since.

I drilled the shield (AVS) and bought longer plastic push fasteners to reach the hood.

Use a punch to mark the hole properly and give the drill bit something to start in so it doesn't wobble about, then just drill straight through. I removed the deflector when I drilled but if you are cautious enough, you shouldn't need to.

So EGR ones have the same problem as the AVS ones then?

Don't drill a hole in the hood... Drill it in the deflector where it should be.
That's exactly what I did on my AVS ! It's worked great . No issues.

Go ahead and heat up the shank of the drill bit with propane torch and melt your hole. The excess plastic around the circumference should break off when bumped with flat head screwdriver. If not use 1/32 bigger bit to chase it. This is how I put holes in plexiglass.

If holes in add-ons don't line up on my '24 Lariat, they'll be returned... unless its something I really really really want and nobody makes one that fits properly. So far, no problem with what little I've added (Klutchtech hood struts, Dee Zee tail gate assist, and Juegoal bump step).

Had an issue with my EGR hood deflector cracking in the middle just after install, and EGRs sending me a new 1, no questions asked. Pretty impressed with there customer service so far :O.

Hopefully the 2nd 1 wont have the same issues as the 1st, most noticeably the holes not being aligned properly, which made the install a bit finicky at best :/.

Good luck with hood struts

So far, so good, and I love it. Easy install, but I did need to use a thinner washer for the bolt to catch threads on the passenger side. My kit came with a spring to assist unlatching on second pull. I read of issues for earlier versions that did not include the spring.

I had the earlier version, no spring. I had to return them.

Glad they're working for you, the price is right
