UPDATE: Wondered whether maybe the Norfolk Southern tracking info was no longer updating properly. So, I called the Union Pacific line and here's what I got:

Dec. 3, 5:05 p.m. -- Placed at Industry, Port of Wilmington

So, it looks like maybe my truck has arrived at the final rail depot after all. Anyone know what "Placed at Industry" means?
Yeah, I went down that rabbit hole when mine said something like "dispatched from Industry" after being offloaded in Portland. Railroads use the term "Industry" to describe if it is actively moving/filling the job it was meant to do. In this case move some Mavericks. When it is something like "dispatched from Industry", it means it is done and probably empty and traveling somewhere to be filled back up with product. Think of them using the term "Industry" as the Railroad "Industry" . Weird way to explain it, but I hope that makes sense.

"Placed at Industry" basically means "it is sitting there at the final stop waiting to be told where to go to be filled back up with product".

Here are some examples of how they toss around the word "Industry". From a railroad dictionary.

Average Demurrage Agreement (AKA Average Agreement) is defined as....

An agreement made between an industry and the railroad whereby the industry is charged for the time cars are held for loading or unloading beyond the free time and is credited for the time cars are released within that certain period in accordance with specified tariff or contract rules. Debits and credits are compiled and demurrage charges are assessed at the end of each month for any outstanding charges.

Advance Notice is defined as.....

A notification of an approaching event or intended action, such as notice to a customer that cars ordered will soon be placed at their industry.

Placement is defined as....

When the car is actually placed in the industry by the railroad.

That makes sense. When I kept getting the Norfolk Southern tracking system telling me it was in Enola, PA, I figured it had just been sitting there all weekend. Now, I think it makes more sense to say it went through Enola on its way to Wilmington, arrived there and got unloaded and is now BACK in Enola on its way to go get reloaded somewhere else, likely another Ford plant somewhere, perhaps even empty all the way back to Hermosillo to pick up more Mavericks!

Looks like Ford and Norfolk Southern want to keep a little suspense in this waiting game right to the end. According to my dealer, VIN VIEW is showing my truck still in Enola, PA. But as of this evening, the automated tracing line tells me the rail car recently departed somewhere. Can't understand the place name, as the computer lady is not easy to understand.

Anyway, it's either at the final rail depot. Or it isn't. LOL. Hopefully soon...

My father's tracking said it's at the rail Depot and I'm pretty positive his truck took the same journey as yours. Right now it hasn't been scheduled for pickup with United road

I feel like I'm having the same issue with ford. Because CSX said it's in Buffalo and Ford says it's in Illinois

It's off the rail car and probably loaded on a truck carrier by now...she is in route, trust me, money back guarantee haha, but the same happened to mine, it actually showed up two days later after it was off the rail car.

So your Dad has confirmation his truck is in Wilmington? Was that via Ford or Norfolk Southern? Was his truck on rail car 851864?

From your lips to God's ears!

I've already finalized numbers with the sales manager and Ford Credit approved the financing today. So all we need now is the đź›»!

You finalized the numbers before the truck came in? My sales manager said he could not see the APR's until the truck came in. This doesn't sound right and this is the first new car I am buying so not sure how it actually goes.

This is where being an educated consumer is so important. Let me say up front that I actually like the sales manager at my dealer and I think he's a straight shooter. However, he's still a car dealer, and I think car dealers are in business to take as much of your money as you are willing to give them. BUT, if you know your rights and you know the details of your deal, then simply stand your ground. It's a lot easier to stand your ground when you know for certain you are correct.

You have a 2022 order/truck. On your order date, 1/22/22, incentive interest rates were still in effect. You have a choice of 0% for 36 months, 0.9% for 48 months, 1.9% for 60 months, etc. So, you need to remind your dealer of that. Not ASK him about it. TELL him about it. It's not a question. It's not negotiable. It's TRUE. All he has to do is click "protection date" in Smart Vincent and those rates will show up for you.

As for the price of the vehicle, just like your interest rates, your vehicle price is protected based on your order date. In my case, my window sticker is $350 higher than my protected price. I simply forwarded the dealer a copy of my original order sheet (which he has on file anyway) and explained that Ford protects my pricing from the date of my order. And I reminded him that I KNOW Ford will automatically reimburse the dealer for the difference once the deal is done and they submit the paperwork to Ford.

He agreed that the price I gave him was the price for my truck, and he had already acknowledged that the financing was protected. I am also able to use a $500 Farm Bureau rebate.

So, bottom line, I will be buying my truck for $850 BELOW sticker price, with 1.9%/60 Month financing through Ford Credit. Again, this is all agreed to. The deal is already being put together by the finance department at the dealership. Once the truck comes in, basically all I have to do is go in, sign the papers and drive home.

If your price protected, and you have the interest rate protected from the date you ordered, the Finance person is who you should speak to. Although, honestly I was protected and they didn’t want to be bothered until the delivery day. I took 36 months at Zero percent and have a $216.12 monthly payment. Going to pay between $500 and $1,000 a month. I also bought a Granger 72 month 85,000 miles warranty.

Glad to hear it. After I get my truck, I plan to do a whole thread about the process and post some paperwork to hopefully help others.
