So I have 336 miles on my new truck.about 250 highway miles. Filled it and calculated 27.4 mpg.i usually drive it in Eco mode and drove 65 on highway. Really brisk crosswind 19 with 35 gusts for 160 of the miles. Was thinking I would get a little better as I drive with a light foot. Maybe after engine breakin and weather warms up( temps were in lower 30's) it may get better. It was a comfortable ride though.

I have XLT AWD 4k tow, just over 3700 miles now after 4.5 months. I never change it from normal mode and average 27.6 with usually hitting 410-415 miles before I fill up the tank, with it stating 10-15 miles left to empty.

27.4 is pretty good considering it’s rated at 29hwy and you had city driving/ wind/ cold. I’ve noticed that my fuel milage goes down when the temp outside is cold too.

It maybe a temp or terrain consideration here. I have 10k+ miles on mine which is 2.0L and 4k tow package installed and average at least 30 mpg up to 33 mpg with ecoboost mode used on a whole tank of 87 octane gas with at least 50% or more the driving being highway. I also live up in the mountains and the uneven terrain limits the mpg some what. When I do leave the area and drive at lower altitudes and flatter terrain I've averaged 35 MPG mostly highway.

Isnt speed a factor. Dont have mine yet but I read that 50-60mph is the sweet spot(as with any car). Maui's speed limit is 55mph so I should get great mileage, when we get ours that is.

I think you're right Maverickman74 back in 1970s every state that wanted federal funds had to lower speed limit to 55 because of fuel shortage.

I just broke 5000 miles and have never got less than 26 mpg. Averaging closer to 30-31 mpg pretty typically using eco mode.

14,000 on my XLT FX4 4K and I get between 29 and 31mpg religiously. I have be beating on it or speeding to get less. I got 27 once when I was doing between 80 and 85 down the highway the whole way. Which is only 10 over the highways in Maine go from 65 or 75 depending on where you are. Mine got 29 right off the lot. And if higher Temps mean better mpg then I should be in mid 30s this summer. I got my truck in October and then after my 30 day plates ran out I didn't register it and seriously start driving to till January put 13k on from first for Jan to now

Milage always goes down in the cold.
The lack of moisture in the ambient air reduces the compression in the cylinders. Humidity help combustion engines perform a bit better, maybe 1-2 MPG.

Our Tremor with the MX topper was able to do full tank at 30.1 mg on Arkansas and Louisiana back highways. Got up to 80 mph a couple times passing, but most of it was about 60 mph. I couldn't believe it could do it. Once we got up here in the mountains of Colorado our average has dropped to mid 25s same with all the high speed stuff down 2 sides of Texas. The rolling average on the screen seems to climb the fastest under 62 for us. Still pretty awesome.
