I made this comment in another thread on this subject a month or so ago, which is about how often someone asks this question, and was told I was a moron and that insurance cannot ever deny you coverage for this. You've got a much better reaction. :ROFLMAO:

I think I understand your goal now.

You want to know if you could have a "plain" no button key that you could leave in the lock cylinder/switch and do a "twist to start" instead of a "push to start" with the Fob in your pocket.
Yes! Winner winner chicken dinner!

You must have a key with the chip mentioned before, without the chip you cannot disable the immobilizer. It cannot be in your pocket, it must be very close, as in as close as the factory key would be.

Understood, thanks.

Exactly. Think of it kind of like a tap-to-pay credit/debit card. It needs to be very close to the reader for it to work. The RFID chip in the key is the same way - the chip in the key needs to be very close to the ignition cylinder for it to be read.

To make sure we are all on the same page Unless your Maverick has push start, there are no electronics in the Key fob.
This is very poorly worded. So poor, it is false taken at face value. Care to revise? It adds confusion; does not aid the reader.

Well, grasshopper the keyfob in the lower level only locks and unlocks the door, it doesn't have any control if the vehicle can start or not.
This is false and misleading as well.
I'll bet you $5000 that my keyfob lower level can and will start my XLT hybrid.

Care to revise this statement or take the bet?

You probably could but why would you? Key fobs can be hacked now and it would make it easier for a thief to steal.
I understand, for the last twenty years I rarely took the key out of the ignition. Was still getting used to driving an automatic with my last vehicle. Now I have the push button start and fob which is weird. When I was a teenager I had a push to start car.

You know, I think there's a chip in the XLT fob that communicates with the Maverick

In my pea-brain, being able to leave the fob in my pocket, and just turn a key left in the steering column is as close to a push to start button as I can get, without paying for a Lariat.

HRG
But the issue is the Key Fob just unlocks the Maverick, you still need the push the button on the key Fob to unlock the truck, you aren't saving anything on what you want to do
